Tour news, rumours, and promo footage

Today we have a lot to report.

Tour news
In a forthcoming interview with Rolling Stone, U2 reveal tentative plans to take the forthcoming tour outside. It will begin in arenas but they will later move on to larger outdoor venues - and they anticipate releasing Songs of Experience in the next eighteen months, i.e. before the stadium shows. In this sense the tour may follow the model of Zoo TV, where two initial arena legs built hype and demand for a massive outdoor show.

Rumours
First, a short rumour: in an interview with a Portuguese radio station, the band promised a show in Portugal on the next tour. Add that to yesterday's rumour, which in turn links back to other tour news and rumours.

Second: U2 will appear on Ireland's The Late Late Show today, 24 October. It is currently the early hours of the 24th in Europe, and the rumour suggests that the German radio session will take place in the afternoon (possibly done by 4pm), in time for U2 to make it back to Ireland for The Late Late Show. This rumour has been reported in the Irish Mirror, and atu2 have received information to the same effect from two separate sources (one and two).

Watch U2 perform for Rolling Stone
A month ago, on 22 September, U2 did a photo shoot on the grounds of the Guinness Brewery for Rolling Stone. This attracted a small crowd of fans and curious passersby; one woman's two dogs became stars of the session after they went past on an evening walk. During the shoot, Bono and Edge performed a live acoustic version of "The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)", which was filmed by Rolling Stone.

We have added this performance to our database here and you can watch the video below or on Rolling Stone's article.
