Performance

A fantastic show, with many absolutely classic performances of both new and old material. The band are very energetic and perform for a crowd that's really lifting them up. Bono makes a couple of minor mistakes, mainly get ahead of himself with lyrics, but they do nothing to hurt the show.

The Pop songs are all incredible. This PopMart show also makes the 1980s material feel very fresh and alive - many Pop shows I feel have rather dull versions of I Still Haven't Found, Pride, etc but that's not the case here at all. They're just as exciting and new-sounding as anything. Of course, Where the Streets Have No Name is one 80s song that's never flat and the PopMart renditions might honestly be the best ones of all - if ever Streets was a hymn, it was on this tour, coming out of the noise and spectacle of PopMart as a beam of heaven on Earth, blasting away all the darkness and cynicism.

Sound

Very, very good recording. The audience are in the mix but don't overpower it, and everyone comes through nice and clear.
Recording: "Pump it up, George" - 5 stars

Audience

They are highly enthusiastic, lots of energy and cheering. This is probably the most excited I've heard the crowd during the karaoke part. Usually the audience is a little baffled, these guys sing just as loud as Edge!

Overall

One of the must-have U2 shows. The performance is energetic, hard-hitting, and intense. Bono is talkative and makes jokes throughout the show ('it's time to rock' before Edge's karaoke). The sound quality is superb and this recording does an incredible job capturing the spectacle of PopMart. On the whole, this show is simply an instant classic, one to go back to over and over.

Highlights:
- Mofo
- I Will Follow
- New Year's Day
- Pride (I generally prefer Pride later in the set but this version is awesome, and it has a great transition to ISHFWILF)
- Miami (probably the best performance)
- Bullet the Blue Sky
- Please/Streets/Playboy Mansion, as always
- Discothèque/Velvet Dress
- With or Without You (Bono sings 'without you, I'd be nothing' which just kills me)
- Mysterious Ways
- Rain ends the show in a wonderful fashion
- lots of really great snippets in Miami, Discothèque, Bullet, Mysterious Ways, great 'hear me coming' in One
