Performance

The performance is great. After a shaky beginning, the European leg really sees PopMart find its feet as a tour. The band have finally reached a point where they are quite comfortable with the material and the setup, and the show is all the better for it.

Bono is talkative in French. None of the songs feel weak at all, even the 80s standards, which sometimes made PopMart shows suffer (especially on the first leg). Mofo starts the show off very well, and the LNOE-UTEOTW-NYD section is extremely strong. All I Want Is You has a Bad snippet instead of the other way round. Edge is funny at the beginning of his karaoke segment, giving this bootleg one of its nicknames 'Liberté, Egalité, Karaoke!' Miami is very, very good. The encore is really great, especially Discothèque and If You Wear That Velvet Dress, which has Bono sort of scat singing a little extra on the outro.

Sound

The sound is solid; not stellar but easily listenable. There is a break between tracks which is annoying but not unfixable.
Recording: Audience microphone - 4 stars

Audience

The audience are really good. They clap and sing along for most of the show!

Overall

An awesome PopMart show that nobody seems to talk about. I had no idea to check it out until it was mentioned by literally one or two people in a forum discussion where the topic of underappreciated-yet-really-great shows came up. This one definitely fits that description. PopMart is a tour marred by its rough beginning and America's poor reception of the album it supported, but this is the kind of show that demonstrates that Pop and PopMart were an artistic tour-de-force. The band are comfortable with their show and the audience love it. Definitely check this one out - there are so few PopMart shows that are fan favourites, this deserves to be one!
