Performance: I was just reading about this show and thought I'd download it. What has to remembered about this show is that it is the one that took place four days after the death of Bono's Dad. With that as the backdrop it was always going to be an emotional show and the band managed to pull out a tremendous performance. Audience: From all the reports I read about this show and listening to the bootleg one thing is clear the crowd picked Bono up and sang their hearts out for him. Sound: Maybe not the best sound, a little bit low but it doesn't matter so much when you think that this recording captured a very special moment in the life of U2 and in particular Bono. Overall: It's hard to speak of lows when you consider the circumstances of the show. A lesser band probably would have canceled the show. The five stars are really because of the effort from band and fans alike who gave their all on what was a dark day.

Performance: For those who aren't aware (and I doubt there are many of you, if you've gotten far enough to be reading the reviews of this random show), this was U2's big homecoming to Slane Castle. Just over 15 years after the band had recorded "The Unforgettable Fire" in the same building, and a mere four days after Bono's father passed away. Considering the heavy rollercoaster of emotions- that of playing a show to an unthinkable mass of people next to one of the biggest cornerstone building's of your career, coupled with the tragic death of your father- the band was absolutely on fire. Everything sounds fresh and energetic when it should, and emotional and heartfelt when appropriate. Bono making references to his father and still holding up through the concert is a remarkable thing to be able to hear on this bootleg. Audience: The audience isn't the most crystal clear aspect of the bootleg, particularly since this isn't an arena recording and their echoes aren't projected as well, but also because of the taper's location/equipment. This isn't a large gripe- this is actually one of those recordings where it actually sounds like you could be there. The boom of the low end isn't as prominent, but that live feeling ever-loved by bootleg listeners is here, and it's mighty. The audience carried Bono that night, so he says, and it truly shows. Sound: Bit of a downfall for me, here. I'm a stickler, and when it comes to Elevation shows, I have heard some AMAZING quality shows. This isn't one of those. The sound doesn't jump higher than a 3.5 for me, but this is honestly NO reason not to listen to this one. The circumstances of the night alone are enough to make every second of this one worthy. Overall: Perfect 5 stars for me. Usually I knock off a half, sometimes even a whole point when the sound just isn't cutting it. But virtually every other aspect of this show is u2 gold. "A Sort of Homecoming" seems a bit more stripped down, and is rightfully played next to it's birth place. The song isn't as produced as it is on the album in this bootleg, and will forever remain my favorite part of the entire show. Highlights: A Sort of Homecoming Kite Bad (the "Yellow" snippet is weird to me, but somehow works) Where the Streets Have No Name Walk On There are no lowlights. This show is fantastic. Grab it now.

Performance: I was in the Heart - my then girlfriend (now wife) got the last armbands to get in the front. They were absolutely amazing - was difficult to watch in parts because Bono was in bits during some songs (Kite and One) but it was such an emotional concert. Audience: The bootleg doesn't do the audience any justice - an amazing crowd. Sound: Not the best bootleg but brings back amazing memories. Overall: Highs - Beautiful Day, Kite, In A Little While, Bullet & Walk On (Walk On was the highlight of the show) Low - From what I could see there were only two people singing along with A Sort of Homecoming - me and an Italian - very disappointing.

Performance: It seems to me that U2 always does their best performance in their hometown of Dublin, Ireland, and they most certainly don't disappoint this time. This is one of their absolute best performances. All the songs are sung beautifully. Audience: This part is only rated, not commented on. Sound: Sound is great on this concert, there is minimal clapping but not enough to matter much. Overall: This is one of the best performances of U2, anyone would enjoy listening to this recording.

Performance: The band performs just as well as they do on the second night (which was filmed). This is an unforgettable show, just WOW! I really dig the addition of A Sort of Homecoming. Audience: This part is only rated, not commented on. Sound: I've heard better quality audience footage, but this isn't too bad. Nothing real special about the sound quality. Overall: Highs for me: -A Sort of Homecoming (first performance in a LONG time) -Kite (Very touching, very, very touching after Bono's father died) -Sunday Bloody Sunday (cool to hear a different rendition from Slane, plus its got the Get Up Stand Up snippet) -One (same reason as Kite) No real lows for me.
