Performance:
The setlist on this concert is one of the bests of the Elevation Tour in my opinion. It features the only night of the tour not-opened by Elevation (only that is remarkable), but Beautiful Day is sooo good as opener... People goes crazy when hear that Edge's guitar. Amazing. Until The End Of The World and New Year's Day stay on their usual positions, after Beautiful Day, but since they were one song earlier than usual, they get a tremendous response from the young audience.
Pride was played the 7th song. Played earlier than the usual, also get a nice response from the audience. It was followed by Sunday Bloody Sunday and a more or less common setlist (Kite, Angel, Desire, Staring, Bad, Streets and Haven't Found). Another nice surprise was With Or Without You, as the closer of the main set.
And the ENCORE. Wow, wow, wow. Awesomely opened by Elevation and awesomely followed by Mysterious Ways. One and Walk On finish the show, which ends only with 19 songs.
The performance is very strong throughout all the concert. The band felt in a great shape, confident and quite happy. The audience, which as said before was formed mostly by young, upbeat people, carried them. Virtually all the songs were performed greatly. The energy and the special emotion of the show made it very special, so the band wanted to play a unique gig.
Even though Bono's voice was not 100% (was it anytime on the Elev Tour??), he makes a remarkable effort to sing good, and in my opinion, he achieves it...
Audience:
The South Bend' Joyce Arena is small. That0s the first point. It can hold about 7000-10000 people. And since it's near (near? I really don't know it sure) a university, most of the tickets were sold to students, young people. That meant an extra-point to the audience usual energy and reactions, etc. The stage's heart, as we have all seen on Slane and Boston DVDs, is huge. And the venue was small. Therefore, there was almost no space betwween the heart tip and the rear seats. That meant an unusual proximity between the band and the audience. Some people has even reported like being in an unplugged show. Those of you who have seen the DVD of this show know what I mean.
Sound:
The sound is perfect. Perfect. The upgrade made by Hodel_05 a few months ago sounds absolutely like heaven to my ears. Period.
Overall:
The first concert after the 9/11 massacre. Anything else to say?

Performance:
Stand out moments...
- Beautiful Day - what an opening! Almost like the Vertigo / Everyone opening but better!
- The 'One' speech about generic AIDS drugs and hard stance of the pharmaceutical companies.
- The NYFD and NYPD onstage during Walk On - a beautiful salute to these tireless legends.
- New York had changed lyrics, which I thought was pretty cool and Shine Like Stars appears.

4.5 Stars maximum make it an excellent recording. No more needs to be said.

Performance:
1. Beautiful Day
Summary: A great performance of this song with a special opening. Usually Elevation is the song to kick-off the show, but I’d prefer Beautiful Day. Bono’s voice is quite good here and the performance is good, but nothing really special.
Rate: 8/10
2. Until The End Of The World / Two Tribes (snippet)
Summary: Powerful version. Full of energy, the way I like this song to be played. Also a strong performance, with a nice snippet (Two Tribes) at the end.
Rate: 8/10
3. New Year's Day
Summary: Also a good performance with Bono struggling a bit with his voice, I think. Also powerful, a typical ‘Elevation’ version of NYD. But like BD, not a special one. I miss the Lovetown-versions.
Rate: 7.5/10
4. When Will I See You Again (snippet) / Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of
Summary: A good snippet before the start playing Stuck. Nicely sung by Bono and it fits with Stuck. Stuck In A Moment is well performed here. It doesn’t really differ from other Elevation-tour performances. I love the lyrics…
Rate: 8/10
5. What's Going On
Summary: I haven’t heard this song so often, but I surely love it. Great performance from the lads. Good drumming and well sung by Bono.
Rate: 8.5/10
6. New York
Summary: I don’t really like the studio version but it rocks live. Very good performance with Edge on fire. Bono messes with the lyrics, it seems.
Rate: 9/10
7. Pride (In The Name Of Love)
Summary: Played slowly, like all Pride’s since Zoo TV. A decent performance, this one. Nothing special. Bono struggles a bit with his voice. He still can’t reach it…Quite a difference with his voice during Vertigo 5th leg. I still prefer the Zoo TV ones.
Rate: 6.5/10
8. Sunday Bloody Sunday
Summary: Strong performance, but I miss the snippet in the middle of the song. A ‘Johnny Comes Marching Home’ would have been great, like on the Boston DVD. Nevertheless, a great song with some nice drumming from Larry. I like the ‘State of Heart’ lyrics from Bono at the end.
Rate: 8/10
9. Kite
Summary: One of my favourite songs. I still see Slane’s one as the best, but Kite is a song U2 can’t play crap. I love the lyrics, the melody, the idea behind the song…It’s Kite and I love it! You can compare this one with Kite from Boston. Powerful and well performed.
Rate: 8/10
10. Angel Of Harlem
Summary: Angel of Indiana…again a good performance. I love the way it was played during Elevation. Nice crowd singing at the end.
Rate: 8/10
11. Staring At The Sun
Summary: A pearl from Pop. I adore the PopMart versions, the Elevation ones were a bit softer, at least in my opinion. But it’s a lovely song with Edge on the acoustic guitar. This one is also one of them. Well sung, well performed, but it could be better.
Rate: 7.5/10
12. Bad / Molly Malone (snippet)
Summary: A special one, this. It’s Bad, so I can’t be crap. Bono sings quite good here, Larry drums well with a good amount of energy. And I adore the Molly Malone snippet. It would have been nice to continue the song afterwards, like they usually do, but still…it’s great.
Rate: 8.5/10
13. Where The Streets Have No Name
Summary: Lovely as always. Bono uses the Psalm 116 snippet, which was quite common during Elevation. Just a strong performance, but not as good as Boston or Slane.
Rate: 8/10
14. I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For
Summary: Love this one. Bono starts out of melody it seems, but it could be done on purpose. This song wasn’t performed that often during Elevation, so it’s also a special one. ‘Oh no…we’re in a church’
Rate: 8.5/10
15. With Or Without You
Summary: Decent…Bono’s voice could be better, but it’s good nevertheless. I like the JT ones more, of course. Also a good Shine Like Stars snippet.
Rate: 7.5/10
encore(s):
16. Elevation / Creep (snippet)
Summary: Awesome..Elevation as encore. Just brilliant. I think the crowd went mad when the first notes where played.
Rate: 8.5/10
17. Mysterious Ways / Sexual Healing (snippet)
Summary: A very strong performance. Not that energetic as during Zoo TV, but just very good. Love Edge’s well known solo at the end, gives me goose bumps all the time.
Rate: 8.5/10
18. One / Peace On Earth (snippet)
Summary: Good speech(maybe a bit too long) and a lovely performance. Good vocals.
The snippet is also great, fits very well.
Rate: 8/10
19. Walk On
Summary: Good performance, very spiritual, as usual after the 9/11 attacks. Also special with the Police and Fire Departements on stage.
Rate: 8/10

Sound:
Just brilliant. Together with RDS Arena, Zoo TV, this is the best sounding bootleg, methinks..
Overall:
A great performance, not the best, but just great. Bono's voice is quite good sometimes, but also powerless during some songs(could be the recording too). I like the setlist and there aren't any weak songs played

Performance:
Very good, but slightly short of great for me. I think they'd lost a little energy after the break and Bono was obviously still ravaged by his father's death. He struggles occasionally.
All performances are good. No weak songs. I've just heard them more inspired on other occasions; the little things that lift a concert to the greats (like the Zoo Milan show last week).
UTTEOTW was very strong. Two Tribes is a great snippet at the end.
Beautiful Day makes a great opener but I do prefer Elevation, especially a la Slane. Shakes it up a bit though which is good.

Sound:
I still had the old version on my iPod so I listened to that to start. It's good but has some horrible jumps during Kite, Angel of Harlem and Bad.
I wouldn't recommend that version, but you can't get it anymore from this site at least as the links have been replaced with:-
Hodel05's upgrade. Wow. Fuck me. Stunning sound. Up there with the best boots, broadcast quality
Overall:
You should definitely have this boot in your collection. It's now one of the best sounding for all tours and has a very good show in it. Just short of great as I've said but an excellent addition to any collection none-the-less
The historical aspect of this show cannot be ignored. Most bands cancelled their shows. U2 helped pull America back off it's knees just by being a rock 'n' roll band who cared.
I personally still prefer the three MSG shows and the 25th certainly sounds just as good as this but has a more inspired feel to it. So for that part of the tour I would recommend this show after those. And Slane is my favourite show of the whole tour but was outdoors so is not quite representative as a whole. Still places this show as my 5th favourite Elevation Tour recording though, which says a lot I think

Performance:
I'll mirror Dan when I say very good but not wow. I couldn't complain about any of the performances, everything was par with the odd song here and there being pretty darn good. I refer specifically to Beautiful Day, UTEOTW (Two Tribes oh yea) and that lovely Molly Malone snippet at the end of Bad. Sunday Bloody Sunday was a bit flat for me. Other notables performances were New York, What's Going On and With Or Without You wasn't too shabby. Pretty decent One speech also if I may so. Everything was correct and extremely relevant. For a soundboard/American crowd, the audience noise and enthusiasm filtered through quite well which is always a huge plus for me

Sound:
First things first, the sound was sensational. Hodels upgrade makes this one of the best sounding bootlegs out there. It sounds like the best audience recording ever (and rarely a soundboard can do this). Exceptional. If you've still got the old version then upgrade now
Overall:
Definitely one to add to your collection if you haven't already done so. Pretty spot on souvenir of the Elevation Tour but I don't think this gig captured all that was great about those post 9/11 gigs, for that you need 2001-10-24 - New York. Although we may say that this show was not 'great' lets give credit to the band for giving that crowd of people the chance to live again for those 2 hours before they got back to the reality of what just happened 1 month previously and extra special credit to Bono for not turning this into a memorial service.

Performance:
Yes, I’m giving them both 5/5. It’s a great show as well. Pretty good setlist, songs performed very well, although Bono’s voice does fail him sometimes, but nothing new about that! The band is in top form, energetic and happy they seem.
I was gonna do a song by song review, but it would get too long, so I describe only (IMHO) the highlights.
- Beautiful Day, I like the weird way they start it, Bono singing the “the heart is a bloom” a few times.
- NYD… (Bono’s voice starting to fail tho)
- What’s Going On, one of my favorite songs, covered by my favorite band, I know not many people like U2’s cover, but I just love it, and it’s performed completely and with great power here, the crowd following them, it’s amazing!
- Bad, a highlight of the show, great quality again, great performance, great audience.
- Streets, every little detail of it recorded, amazing audience power again, another highlight of the show (been relistening Bad – Streets all week ). Again, -
- ISHFWILF, the bass’s sound recorded so well + the great audience make this a great performance!
- Walk On, with the heroes on stage and the people's USA shouts after the song, a very emotional performance.
Some interesting notes…
- Bono’s little talk before Kite (on the end of the SBS file) makes the song more beautiful.
- I had to say this one: Angel of Harlem, Bono goes :”Laaaawrence!!” nice moment!
- About Bad, …does that girl scream out “Thank youuu….thaaank you!!” in the beginning?! .. ow, and I don’t really like the Molly Malone snippet.
- Streets… Bono’s religious talk in the beginning and that distant yell he does, add a lot to the song (much better than the chant on the the vertigo tour!).
- Bono doesn’t start in the right moment on ISHFWILF (or maybe It’s the edge playing wrong), Edge fixes the issue right away tho.
- One...Bono does a 4-5 minute speech!! It's a good speech tho, but I felt sorry for the Edge, he plays the little guitar bit over and over again for 4 minutes (on the vertigo tour they only had the intro track and no guitar till the end of the speech!)

What can I say? It’s the best! To me it sounds the same as any of my official DVD rips. Perfect balance between the audience’s and the band’s sound, every detail of every song is heard pretty well, Adam’s bass is heard perfectly which shows what a great recording it is!
Overall:
I haven’t heard many Elevation shows, but this one was awesome. Reasons to get this boot:
- Amazing sound quality, crowd and band both recorded perfectly.
- First show after 9/11, thus, an amazing crowd, a great band, and also a historical show.
It was a great experience listening to this show, I enjoyed every second of it. It became a favorite of mine right after listening to the first 20 seconds of it. Go and get it right now, you’ll love it!

Add me to the list of people who really enjoyed the Molly Malone snippet on the end of Bad. I didn't know where the song came from, so I looked it up on wikipedia and it made me appreciate it even more. Anytime they personalize a song, I think it's a good thing.
Starting the show off with "Beautiful Day" instead of Elevation = Brilliant. Loved hearing "The heart is a BLOOM!" over and over and over....as someone mentioned earlier, it is very similar to the beginning of the Vertigo shows with "Everyone."
I'm not going to lie: I don't care for the studio version of "New York," and usually skip over it when I'm listening to Elevation tour bootlegs. But not this show. It's brilliant.

Sound:
The sound on this bootleg is amazing. I thought originally that I'd watch the DVD, but apparently the DVD has the old sound mix, and it was atrocious. I had to shut it off two songs in because I knew that the audio bootleg (Hodel's?) is 1000% better than the old one. And I wasn't disappointed. I hadn't listened to this boot in a few months, and hearing it again brought a smile to my face. Most bootlegs seem to be lacking in bass, but this one definitely wasn't. (Example: PRIDE)
Overall:
Post 9/11, the band does a brilliant job in helping a wounded nation heal. Normally I would criticize a band for taking the bold stance and saying "let our music help you heal" but when you listen to these songs, you can make the case that each and every one is directly related/in response to the tragedy one month earlier. The boys pulled it off with grace. (but thankfully not the song "Grace," because that would have put everyone to sleep...)

Performance:
Beautiful Day - I love the start to this. First the speaking of the lyrics and then the throaty shouting on "the heart is a bloom!" Followed by a near perfect version of the song. The crowd are well up for it tonight. New Year's Day - Bono's seemingly sore throat is perfect for the cry out at the beginning of this song. Great performance, despite what I think is a mistake, at 1:40, Adam seems to forget what comes next lol. Edge's guitar as good as ever here, very good performance nonehteless. Until The End of the World - Jeeeeesus! I adore this song. Don't care where it's played, it's brilliant. I especially love the "love love love, love love, loo-ooo-ooove looove" bit. Two Tribes is also pretty good after it. Stuck In A Moment is agreat song and this is a pretty good performance. The crowd do a pretty good job as well. What's Going On? is a song I love U2 doing. Great performance. New York is a song I don't really like, the album version anyway, but live it's so full of life. Pretty good. Pride - Typically good performance of such a great song. Sunday Bloody Sunday...I don't think it's possible for me to rate this song poorly, ever. Like Pride, it's such a staple in their shows that it's just nailed to perfection every time. Kite is awesome, always has been. Really emotional every time. Angel of Harlemhaha, I love this song live too. I love to play it, love to sing it too. Great song. Staring at the Sun, beautiful little track. Bad...always brilliant. Streets, well, no version of this can be bad. ISHFWILF is great in this bootleg, the crowd really enhance it. With or Without You is just another fantastic song in the long line in this bootleg. What's the significane of the 10 months bit though?
Elevation is a really good encore opener, crowd really going for it here as well. Good track. Followed by Mysterious Ways which is a song I really like, when done properly, when it's one dimensional and lasts over 7 minutes, it's tedious. I like this performance though. The intro is very strange, great though. One, is this seriously 10 minutes? Nope, there's a speech. Speech is very true though. Good performance follows. There's a brief Peace on Earth which is ok, an Unchained Melody would've been better, but considering the occasion, [Peace on Earth[/I] was quite apt. Finally, Walk On, which is a brilliant song. And it's awesome live.

Overall:
A very good performance although compared to some shows a very 'quiet performance. Not in terms of loudness, but interms of the songs. No Bullet the Blue Sky, no Fly, no Zoo Station, no Gone etc. Some melodic tracks chosen instead, which makes it a good show in it's own right.

Beautiful Day:
A Heart is a blooooooooom-beautiful beggining in Beautiful day....as the whole song.Nice version, different from Vertigo versions which are better know to me.I welcomed it
UTEOTW:
good tempo, lively version, and Two Tribes snippet, interesting sounds from Edge at the end... but where's the transition to NYD
NYD:
I really liked the piano sound, that's all. Bono's voice was no good,
Beautiful snippet When Will I see you again.
New York:
Edge's on fire, quite rocking
SBS:
Edge's got very unusuall guitar sound here, and it's very nice and refreshes otherwise very uninspired and boring version with weak vocals.
Kite:
Beautiful, shame it wasn't acompained with beautiful voice.
Bad:
Molly Malone snippet was pretty cool
I Still Haven't Found:
Good performance, despite weak voice Bono tried to to give everything into it.
Elevation:
Very rocking version, I was happy to hear those backing tracks which weren't used on next tour.
Walk On:
I like this song very much and this performance didn't dissapoint me, nice solo at the end.
Audience:

Sound:
Great, all instruments were very good heard, audience was very good, not too loud not too quiet. All pretty balanced.
Overall:
An Elevation bootleg, something completely new to me,I never wanted to listen to any because of Bono's voice. And as I expected it was quite a raspy and weak, at the begin of the show it was OK, but it went weaker and weaker. This was definately his worst singing period
Overally I was impressed with performances of some songs, BD, Kite,Elevation will definately stay in my music library on computer, but it still didn't make me fan of Elevation Tour

Performance:
Amazing...one of the best performances of the Elevation tour. The band starts off with 'Beautiful Day', with Bono shouting "the heart is a bloom!" They jam through 'Until the End of the World' and 'New Year's Day' with so much rockability. Bono sings 'When Will I See You Again' and 'Stuck In a Moment' with so much passion, it brought tears to my eyes. 'What's Going On' was spectacular. The bridge between the chorus and the next stanza reminds me off the Who's 'Pinball Wizard'. What a debut. 'New York' was special during this leg, because of 9/11. I forgot I was from Boston, and got lost in this song. 'Pride' and 'Sunday Bloody Sunday' were fantastic. 'Pride' benefitted from following 'New York', and the band are certainly enjoying the show at this point. 'Sunday Bloody SUnday' did not contain a political speech by Bono, which surprised me a little bit, however the song benefitted from not having a rant. Bono dedicates 'Kite' to his newborn baby boy, John. 'Angel of Harlem' is awesome here, as always. Bono tells the crowd during 'Staring at the Sun' that there's a webcast of the concert going on, and that the whole universe was listening in. 'Staring' in general, was great acoustic, and does the song justice. 'Bad' was superb, the only odd part of the concert being the 'Molly Malone' snippet. If Bono snippeted 'All I Want Is You' instead, it would have been a better lead in to 'Streets'. 'Where the Streets Have No Name' was nearly perfect here. The only version better would be the Slane concert, which to popular opinion is the best ever. The next song was 'Still Haven't Found'. This is the best version of the song ever. Mind you, this is coming from someone who considers this one of U2's best. Bono hits the added falsetto during bleed into one, which sent shivers up my spine. The regular set closes with 'With or Without You', and dedicates this to those born 10 months after it came out. A very beautiful closing to the regular set. Then came one of the best U2 encores ever. They start off with 'Elevation', and really rocks the house. They rock on through with 'Mysterious Ways', not a highlight of the tour, but this version kicked ass! 'One' was astounding as well as emotional. 'Peace On Earth' and 'Walk On' were in top form. Some of the NYPD and NYFD came out during 'Walk On', which gave even more meaning to an already meaningful song.
Audience:
Perfect sound. The audience can be heard, while the band can be heard clearly as well. I found absolutely nothing with the recording of this. It's the best bootleg you can find here from the Elevation Tour.
Sound:
Most of the crowd were energetic Notre Dame students, so they were very lively. And they were. They all knew the sounds too, which to me proves rock and roll will never die. The arena was small, seating 11,000 people. To me it sounded like there was 20,000+ rocking with U2.
Overall:
I never really got to listen to this gig until now. What a show! It's become one of my favorites, and furthers my love for the Elevation Tour. Some may complain they dropped the Fly, but it just didn't fit at that moment. 'Beautiful Day', 'What's Going On', 'Still Haven't Found', 'One' and 'Walk On' are the highlights here. These songs are all in top form too, which makes this gig one of the best I've heard. If you download this, your expectations will be met 110%.

Very emotional show, reminds me of the 3 MSG shows later on in the month. This show is one of the ONLY times on the tour the band elected to open with Beautiful Day.Its a great version of the song.Bono shouts out the heart is a bloom line a few times..then sings it..This show and the 3 from MSG were the best on the last leg of the tour...and maybe the whole tour.
Audience:
I know friends that were there and said it was amazing. The Joyce Center is on the campus grounds so it was filled with students that were fired up.
Sound:
I had an older version of this show that was very good. This copy is way better..bass,Bonos voice,Edges guitar..sounds great.Big improvement.
Overall:
Great show. The band asked members of the NYPD (1st pct) to come up on stage and stand with the band as they played Walk On..thats why the song goes on for a few extra min..great moment. This show is the FIRST show in the USA after 9/11...need I say more.......upgrade if you have this..and if you dont download it now.
