2010-08-21 - Helsinki, Finland - Olympic Stadium

setlist

Performance notes: This is the first time ever that U2 perform two shows in Finland on one tour. Previous visits in 1982 and 1997 were for just one concert each time. For the occasion, a number of surprises are in the setlist. Most notable is the debut performance of an unreleased song called Every Breaking Wave. I Will Follow makes its tour debut; No Line On The Horizon is played for the first time in 2010, in a new semi-acoustic arrangement; Pride returns after a 25-concert absence, displacing Sunday Bloody Sunday. This is the first time U2 have played no songs from the War album at a concert since 27 June 1997. The snippet of Led Zeppelin's Rock And Roll at the end of Glastonbury is played by Larry on drums.

Performance

Fantastic show.A few gaffs, but so what.I love that the band are starting to mix up some of the classics.Rotate NYD,add IWF for a show.Rotate SBS,replace it with Pride.Thats what I want.Great.NLOTH is played as well.Edge is all over the place, but thats fine. Its live.I think if they worked on this a bit more,it would sound very good.Nice overall energy here. The big moment is of course,EBW.This song has been mentioned for almost 2 yrs now.Its fantastic.I dont know why they left it off NLOTH.This and North Star are great ballads that should be played every night.Weird moment, after a great version of WOWY, Bono seems kinda, lost.Like he forgot what song was next or what he was saying. He stops speaking, and says "um what do we wanna do......um......I think we are gonna........ end....." Strange 30 seconds there. The next song,MOS,doesnt have the chant Oh Oh Oh Ohhhhh at the start.(Like Bono was still kinda in Zoo Station there.) Doesnt sound as good without that. But,besides that blip, this is a very solid show.A MUST HAVE.

Sound

This is my only problem with the show. The sound.I played this gig, then listened to Frankfort. This show, unlike Frankfort, has a very strong TIN sound to it.This is a great gig,so you have to deal with the tin.The loud clapping is annoying after every song as well. Its not bad,but I guess Frankfort spoiled me.

Audience

Sound good,very good on WOWY.

Overall

I think this is the show of the tour so far.Its really a 5,but I had to dock it cause the sound isnt as good as Frankfort. The standouts are many,EBV,IWF.NLOTH,Glastonbury,Batman,WOWY,Pride.
