The band put on a great show, they were in good form and everything seemed to be able to connect. What struck me was how much time Edge actually closed his eyes during the show, he probably doesn't want to see all those fans videotaping the entire show on their mobile phone. The impromptu performance of All I Want Is You was amazing and the two surprise songs on the E-stage worked out quite well too. Nice to hear Lucifer's Hands and The Sweetest Thing. Lots of speeching by Bono tonight and lots of snippets. That Good Times, Bad Times snippet was awesome.

Maybe it was just my position (close to the E-stage on the North Side) but it was full of dronken people, and stoned people (wtf people, smoking weed during a sow?). Despite us being third row my girlfriend who is quite small couldn't see much of the band most of the time because of the people videotaping their entire show on their mobile phone (really people, with digital zoom as well?). That was quite annoying. But once we ignored all of these groups of people we had a good time! The people in the seats also seemed really into it, they were standing and dancing all the time. Awesome.
Overall a great show. All I Want Is You as highlight, and for me The Electric Co. also really hit off. What an energetic song. Great to have seen U2 in The Garden once, my first and for a while last show outside Europe.

The recording itself is steady and above average soundwise. Definitely
compared to other mixlr-broadcasts, but also compared to previous
recordings of mysteriousdays. What is - perhaps - less favourable is
the noise and screamy surrounding of MD's recording position.
Anyway, at this point I think it is the most consistent recording of
NYC#4 that has been made widely available. A show with in fact quite
many goodies, including a very long snippet of Led Zeppelin's Good Times,
BIG THANKS to MYSTERIOUSDAYS for the live broadcast from the venue
and her recent consent in making the (re-)mastered recording available
SPECIAL THANKS to danknapp76 for inspiring me to work at the U2 NYC#4
recordings - credits for the patch in SBS should definitely go to him!

"It's this guy beating up his girlfriend about her searching for answers and just telling her to look around. It's like science fiction gospel. Edge is calling it country hip-hop."
- Bono on If God Will Send His Angels (Q Magazine, March 1997)
did you know
Bono, The Edge, and Larry had joined a religious group in Dublin called "Shalom," which led all three to question the relationship between the Christian faith and the rock and roll lifestyle.
