Performance

Early U2 in all its glory

Sound

It's an FM broadcast and after almost 35 years, it's still flawless. Edge's guitar is a bit distant in the mix, but this is one of the best sounding Boy bootlegs.
Recording: "BBC Northern Ireland - Original broadcast 1981" - 4.5 stars

Audience

Terrific audience, louding and clapping very loudly between songs. Something rare for an early broadcast to not bury the audience.

Overall

Simply spectacular. One of the best Boy bootlegs and a must-have for any fan. One source misses Things To Make And Do and Twilight. These are in the new source, but the latter misses A Day Without Me, so they complement very well. Short set, but no lowlights. An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart, 11 O'clock and Out of Control sound incredibly good. These early versions of A Day Without Me are not as strong as the latter October versions with Brick, but that's not a fault of this bootleg. The bootleg also contains The Ocean and 11 O'clock from the Old Gray Whistle Test show of January 28, 1981. Highly recommended.
