1. There is a new You Too, you can vote for this new poll on the frontpage and discuss it in this thread.

The question of this new You Too is:

Two months in: how do you rate the Songs of Innocence album now amongst the U2 albums?
    - As a classic (Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby)
    - As one of their best (ATYCLB, Unforgettable Fire etc.)
    - As an average album (same level as No Line)
    - As one of their worst
    - More time is needed to tell

Please vote on the frontpage of the website, in this thread you can tell us why you voted for your answer.
Your vote is valued! Thank you!
  2. Lol, those examples.

Its a good album. Not a classic (AB or JT), nor is it on par with their best (Pop, Zooropa, TUF). So I guess I'll have to go for average.
  3. The more I listen to SOI the better the album is going to be.

So to my opinion: one of their best.
  4. This one is impossible to answer, mainly because of the biased options (examples)

So for the time being, I voted: - More time is needed to tell....

(secretly I think it is like this:
    1. POP
    2. AB
    3. SOI......)
  5. I agree with Ferrari, it seems to get better every time I listen to it. Much better than the last ones at least (ATYCLB, HTDAAB and NLOTH)

    yes
  7. Do I really see: One of their best (ATYCLB) ???? That's a joke, right ?

I'm with Tim, it isn't a classic nor one of their best. But it is a good album and their best release since Pop. Replace Miracle and SOS with 2 other/better songs and it would have been one of their best.
  8. How can a new album be called a classic? Isn't that a misuse of the term?

I definitely think it's their best album thus far. It's definitely the most complete album they've released in general. In a couple years people might look at this and see it as the next (maybe final) evolution of U2, which would put SOI with their other major game-changing albums in Achtung Baby and ATYCLB.

Put my opinion aside about the album, but an evolution?
JH/RH>>AB sounded like a totally different band, also the difference between Pop and ATYCLB was huge, while the difference between NLOTH and SOI music wise isn't really big imo. SOI sounds a lot like their work in the last 14 years, only better than the previous 3 albums.
  10. One of their best, but I probably also said that at the time of NLOTH.
  11. About the level of NLOTH (which I really liked). Only thing I don't like about SoI: The Miracle. What a boring song.
  12. I voted it as one of their best. I'm sorry, but no album as a whole will ever reach the Achtung Baby/ Joshua Tree status. I voted this way because honestly, I've listened to AT LEAST 5ish songs from the new album daily. Over 2 months and I still think it's just as good. Sure my "favorite song" from the album tends to change, but I really haven't listened to any other U2 songs from any other album lately. 90% Songs of Innocence, 10% other lol.
