It's all free music chosen by the artist. You can give a donation, but you are only required to give your email address and postal code (and agree to allow the bands to email you - I've only gotten three emails in 6 months).
I found The Hawk in Paris and Bad Veins on there and I am loving their stuff. I went and got both full length albums....
