1. Hi all,

since I've been posting a few times about the I&E tour I think I also need to introduce myself properly.

I've been a Dutch U2 fan since the late 1980s. Been to the very last show of the LoveTown tour in Rotterdam (truly felt like the end of an era, even during the show itself) and have been to about 30 U2 shows since.

Regarding U2, I collect their songs, but mainly on physical formats (remember, fan since late 80s so not that much into digital) with a preference for Vinyl.

But maybe much more important to me is the fact that U2 has continued to play an important part in my life journey. My feelings for songs or U2 era's (for example JT/R&H or ZooTV-POP) have been quite consistent and I still appreciate their musical decisions. Don't know how to explain it, maybe an example helps: I used to travel to Africa for study and work quite regularly. Once upon a time I was sitting in a small village somewhere in Africa and suddenly I hear a girl sing 'I Still Haven't Found'. That made me really happy. It brought me back to the person I was when I discovered that song, but ALSO to the JT era and I somehow felt part of that. It's like U2 is MY band, although I know that I have to share it with millions across the world and I'm fine with that. Oh and not that every person on the world knows U2 songs to be sure.

Also, I really dig the wit and funny side of the band. Their jokes, crazy stories etc They are vey serious and at the same time not at all, without making it lame or cheesy. Even in their wit they have outstanding quality.

    Maybe that's enough for now.

    cheers,
    Alexander

Oh and btw I discovered that I have a U2Start account for 5 years but never used it!!
  2. Welcome Alexander! Great story, good to have you (back).
  3. Welcome to the site! Great to have you!
  4. welcome dude!
  5. Thank you.

What I particularly like about the U2Start forum is the positivism (even 'complaints' about lame audiences and predictable setlists are not posed in sarcasm such as can sometimes be found on other fora) and the general helpful attitude. Everybody's contribution seems to be appreciated and that triggered me to finally start posting.

    Off to Antwerp now...
  6. Hi Alexander !

What do you do in Africa ?
  7. No sarcasm? I almost used some here! Lots of complainers about the setlists...I try not to, but I always do anyway. Welcome to the site!
  8. Hello, Alexander
    Welcome!
same happened to me.. had my account for the last 7 years and only recently started to use it..
  9. Hello Alexander and welcome to the site!

  10. Thanks all for your replies

Hi Patou2: I used to do research for my PhD. It's about aids medication, but focusing on coordination and collaboration (or not), so not on medical novelties or any of that.

@pleasegone: thanks. I get you. True there is some complaining here about setlists. I also would love them to play Acrobat or Love is Blindness. Or Please, Gone, Mofo, etc. But sometimes the predictable regulars are killers too. For me Desire at Antwerp 2 was awesome!
Prior to the show I'd have preferred Volcano or The Troubles or another rare song, but afterwards I was very happy with what we got.

Tonights selist is also great btw, with Party Girl and Bad/40
