Recently, their lead singer Gordon Downie has been diagnosed with an incurable form of brain cancer named glioblastoma. So the band decided to group together this past summer and play 15 shows throughout Canada which I was lucky enough to catch their 2nd show in Toronto. The last concert was televised live on the CBC from their hometown of Kingston Ontario a couple of weeks ago.

The cool thing about the setlist for the shows is that they performed songs off seven (7) of their thirteen (13) albums each night grouped together as follows:

    4 songs (Album 1)
    4 songs (Album 2)
    Intermission
    4 songs (Album 3)
    4 songs (Album 4)
    Intermission
    4 songs (Album 5)
    3 songs (Album 6)
    Intermission
    2 songs (Album 7)

What would your setlist look like if U2 took to the stage in this fashion?

Thanks so much for bringing attention to the Hip here. They are kind of the Canadian equivalent of the e-Street band, part of our DNA. Watching Downie tear through the THIRD encore was unreal. Calling it emotional does it a disservice, it was profound -- I think all of Canada was crying when he started to break down during Grace, Actually. It's a bummer they never caught fire internationally.... I think a lot of U2 fans would dig a good portion of their back catalog.

I agree! This band was such a big part of my youth. First concert ever was The Tragically Hip at the old Auditorium in Buffalo for the Day For Night Tour. Many in this forum would love The Hip! I have watched the Kingston show about a half of dozen times and Gord's wailing at the end of Grace, Too was gripping! So emotional! So happy for him that he had the opportunity to do this tour this summer. Not many artists get that opportunity so thanks and goodbye to their fans!
