well, i know LikeASong has U2-parents( which would be awesome). Are there more people here with a real U2-family? My mum isn't a fan but she likes their music My brother listens to a completely different style

One of my friends, which is also a U2 fan, has a fan-family; his sister went to seven Vertigo's concert, and his parents went to the three concerts here in Spain! They are great!
And I know more fans with fan-familiy, specially their sisters/brothers.

hmmm I don't know any real fan outside of u2start.com, I know many people who do like them..But no real 'fans'.

Well, if we referr to REAl fans, I neither know them. The people i told bout simply like U2, but they are not fans as the word meaning of "fanatic". Then the onl fans I know are my parents.
Now I'm having dinner, see you!!

My little brother listen sometimes to songs like Vertigo, my sister dislikes U2 (she's more into R&B and hip hop) but likes some of my DVD's. My parents dislike U2 too

Peppers are good!

But my brother likes U2, due to him I'm a fan, because he was the one who bought my very first album

But nowadays he likes all kinds of rock, like Coldplay, Keane, Manowar(heavy metal band), Metallica, Three Doors Down, etc. He likes U2 too, but he isn't a fan like I am. My parents like them, but aren't fan either. My mum once said, while watching U2 Slane DVD: 'I think I'm turning into a fan too'. Unfortunately it hasn't happened so far. And for my friends? The all like the common modern time music, like trance, hiphop, even hardcore(sucks really). Some friends like rock too, someone even has all the U2 DVD's too, but still isn't a fan.

My family like u2, not as much as me though. Trying to get my friends into them at the moment, by lending one or two of them my zootv dvd. They lseem to like it and have even gone as far as downloading some of their songs. RESULT!

same here!!!

my parents arent really into u2 and my sister and one of my brothers listen to that trance-pop garbage, - you konw when djs take a regular pop/rock song and mutate it with trance to truely horrible effect.
me constantly playing u2 in my house has seemed to rub off on a couple of my brothers.
i have the complete u2 on itunes and recently my brother requested me to put a few u2 songs onto a cd for his car.
of cousre he requested all the classics i.e. streets, wowy, one sbs etc.. but also among the songs he requested were out of control [brooklyn bridge version - said it had to be live], in a little while, zooropa, in gods country and god part 2.
i couldnt believe it!

most are not "active fans" like i am, but yes, my family likes u2:

-close uncle was a fan since boy & still is, he introduced me, we go to shows together
-mom, dad, older brother appreciate u2 and are cool with my level of fandom (cause i was introduced at an early age)
-mom actually took me to see zoo tv when i was 5
-dad asked me to burn him copies of ATYCLB & HTDAAB & listens to 'em both
-grandparents know & like some joshua tree songs, esp. "still haven't found" and really dig the fact that they're christians
-i have 2 or so other close friends who are also "fans" (i.e. have watched rattle and hum movie, listen to "bad")

i'm very very lucky in this regard, it's one of the reasons why it's so easy / congruent for me to be a big fan

---

Even if they don't actually follow through...

I've had 2 people tell me that in my life (after me introducing them & investing effort gradually over time) and it just made my heart pitter-patter. It's one of the sweetest sentences in the English language, it's like hearing someone admit they're falling for you.
