1. I noticed that some of you (including me) have their own playlists with variations of U2 albums that "fix" whatever may be wrong with them. Here you can share your own alternative U2 albums. Maybe you know how to fix Rattle and Hum, or you include I'm Not You Baby in Pop, let us know!
  2. Alternative R&H: First, remove all the live songs, put it in a separate release, a deluxe version or whatever. Then:
    1. Hawkmoon 269
    2. Desire
    3. God Part II
    4. Heartland
    5. Slow Dancing (from the Stay single)
    6. She's A Mystery To Me (live from Rotterdam, since we don't have the U2 studio version, or you can put the Roy Orbison version too, it's great)
    7. Dancing Barefoot
    8. Hallelujah (Here She Comes)
    9. All I Want Is You (single version)
    10. Van Diemen's Land
    11. Angel Of Harlem
    12. When Love Comes To Town
    13. Love Rescue Me

    You can remove She's A Mystery to Me and include Everlasting Love if you want. That's a killer album
  3. I was also always a bit bothered by the mishmash of studio and live tracks on R&H. Here's my version, U2 originals only with optional cover inclusions in brackets:

    1. Van Diemen's Land
    2. Hawkmoon 269
    3. Desire
    [Dancing Barefoot]
    4. Angel of Harlem
    5. Love Rescue Me
    [Unchained Melody]
    6. When Love Comes To Town
    7. Hallelujah (Here She Comes) [or Everlasting Love]
    8. A Room At the Heartbreak Hotel
    9. Heartland
    10. God Part II
    11. All I Want Is You
  4. I present you Ripping The Stitches, one of my favorite U2 albums.

    Released sometime between 2004 and 2014, this album contains 5 singles, 3 songs that were considered the best track of their respective albums (had they been released in them, that's it), and 3 pretty well respected tracks to complete it.

    The flow of the album is amazing. No song is out of place.
    If you're not a big fan of these songs, you may find it slow or even boring, but otherwise, this could become one of the albums of U2 that you enjoy the most.

    *Ordinary Love --> Epworth
    *Every Breaking Wave --> Acoustic
    *Winter --> Linear
    *Crystal Ballroom --> Long version.

    [EDIT] I forgot to mention: I edited Mercy just to include a small fade in, because the version I got (youtube) starts not ripping the stitches, but ripping my ears.

    Nice. I tried to follow the order from the Lovetown shows because it flows better for me. To me, Angel/WLCTT and LRM are now together and inseparable. Van Diemen's Land I also always picture it following Bad or AIWIY.

    For making that album did you go specifically for songs not released in albums or was that just a coincidence?
  7. When I try to "fix" the albums, I only mess with the running order and try to avoid including b-sides or unreleased tracks (I use those to create whole albums)

    Here's my No Line On The Horizon album:

    Love opening with FEZ.
    I wanted to break MOS/UC (great songs but waaaaay too long and slow, it kills the mood for me)
    I like Crazy Tonight as a bridge between the first amazing act, and the Boots/SUC combo, which I actually like it in this position of the tracklist.
    Magnificent between WAS and COL works great for me.
  8. I combined all the unreleased/bsides/rarities/etc songs in a set of different albums (it was like 12/13 albums besides the official ones).

    I tried to make them in a way they had some consistency.

    But as time has gone by, I've realised that I didn't include some songs, or that I would do things differently now, so I'm in the middle of reworking them.
    Except this one. Ripping the Stitches is great as is.

    And maybe The Washing Rain (mid-80's), but I'm still not sure about that one.

    I remember you mentioning making alternative albums for the non-album material quite a while back (probably over a year ago now) and I was always really curious what they were! I'd love to see them here as you rework them!
  10. In the meantime, since you guys are already showing your Rattle And Hums, here's mine.

    Like I said, I don't like to include bsides/etcetera into official albums, but RaH has a loophole: Silver And Gold.
    It is a bside, but since it's actually in the album, I decided that it was fair game.
    (Also, and maybe more important, I listened first RAH than the bsides, so for me -and I guess for lots of fans- Silver and Gold actually BELONGS to Rattle and Hum).

    So, here it is, my Rattle And Hum:

    *Van Diemen's Land is a mix I made but now I don't remember the original sources... I'm pretty sure I'm using the movie version and the album version, but I think I downloaded some other version as well and so I made a frankenstein that has 3 and a half minutes of music and NO crowd noise from Helter Skelter.

    *Silver And Gold is the b-side, not the album live version.

    If at all possible, I'd love a copy of that Van Diemen's Land of yours.

    A while back I posted how great R&H is with just the eight Bono-sung studio tracks but also admitted that I didn't include VDL due to "unclean" start/finish to the album version.
