1. The Tribute to Hero’s version is the best recorded and released version IMO. Stunningly good.

    Also agree though with LikeASong - the post 9/11 versions at MSG are far and away the most powerful moments I’ve ever witnessed at a concert - arguably any public gathering I’ve seen. There was barely a dry eye in the house. Transcendent moments for U2 at those shows.
  2. I am fond of the acoustic performance. It just simplifies the song in a way that makes it more enjoyable for me. The crowd was always good for singing along too.
  3. I’m fond of most u2 acoustic versions of songs. They’re rarely better than the full electric but they offer something different and can shine in different ways from the full band versions. Walk on is definitely a good example, I only realised recently that the burma soldier version was from a live show in Japan but they just edited the strings over it, that’s a great version.
