I don't know the date of it but the version on The Rattle & Hum video has never been bettered in my opinion. -
I told 08-11-1987, it's the Rattle and Hum's version, it's really, really great, but it's not the best one, at least for me...

Live Aid in a class of its own.

I agree that Live Aid takes the trophy. It spiralled out of control (apparently the band Big Country was waiting in the wings, expecting to come onstage to play "Gloria" with U2, but they ran out of time).
It's best when you see the performance, but even the audio is magical. I remember when it was first broadcast and the satellite transmission cut out! GAH! It was horifying. Happily, it came back!

Could someone please reupload the Live Aid songs through megaupload, savefile or rapidshare? The links on yousendit have expired already. Thanks

Yeah, Live Aid is the best, because the snippets and the meaning it has. I also think 1987-04-29 - Rosemont, Illinois is kinda powerful. It is longer than the usual and at the end Bono lets go the mic, leaving the band meking a long improvisation moment and ending with a fantastic series of beats.
If Bad is your most loved version, you sholud see the Rattle and Hum 2 video. There is this funny soundcheck where Larry discuss with someone off-camera (I guess Edge) trying to agree how to play the different sections. Very revealing. -
I agree, Rattle and Hum video version was the greatest. -
I am very partial to the chicago 5-12-05 show with the ending of Bad. It has like 4 different interpolations from Norweigan Wood, Storm Rider, Sexual Healing, and 40. The build-up to the outro is so amazing! I wish though Bono put in All I Want Is You within the long outro as well since it would have made this over 10min version I think even sweeter. Does anyone know how Bono does All I Want Is You in Bad? Is it like a chant of the title or is it more like one full verse? Also if anyone else knows of an awesome version from other tours that are over 10min or near please tell me about them then I'll download them. Thanks.
