1. why does an album called 18 singles not contain the single versions of songs? e.g. Elevation and Walk On.

Because not necessarily everyone knows the single versions - e.g. Walk On single version sounds different to the ATYCLB version.
  3. Elevation on U218 is different to that on Leave Behind. Only realised last week there because i've no cause to listen to U218
  4. What's different on 18 Singles:

NYD: Previously released on the "New Year's Day" Japanese single and The Best of 1980–1990.
Vertigo: Previously released on the "Vertigo" promo CD and different to the HTDAAB version.
WTSHNN: Previously unreleased mix. Similar to the release on the "Where the Streets Have No Name" single, but without The Edge's backing vocals.
Walk On: Previously released on the "Walk On" Canadian single.
WITS: Different mix than the "Window in the Skies" (single version) featured on promo releases. Sounds more emphasized on certain parts if you listen carefully.
I Will Follow: A bonus track featured on UK and Australia releases of the album as the first track.
Smile: From the Unreleased and Rare set, and only included on the iTunes version.

So there you go, what's different. I would have loved for the acoustic Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of and the 7EP version of Walk On to have been put on there as well as the original Sweetest Thing rather than the edited vocals version - the rough take and maybe the acoustic version of Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own. But they knew we'd buy it only for Milan or the two new songs - not the rest, we have up to three versions of those. I only bought the Deluxe Edition with the CD and DVD - nice little book though.

As a personal side-note, does One sound different? It seems to have a higher pitch. There's at least six different versions of Elevation around, but I like the 7EP version a lot more. Great album that one.
  5. I prefered the old promo version of Windows. When it first surfaced on that radioo show I thought it was great then when I heard the finished product I was a little dissapointed

It's a nice little song but not as good as the radio version.
  7. nice little song. Sums it up well. I love 'Soul In Its Striptease' though. Bono's voice at 'SOUL' is fantastic

I never noticed that. I just listened to both versions and I think you're right! Very weird!
