  1. Are there any Elvis-fans here? I like some of his music, but I don't understand the hype. Just saw the news here, and in Graceland, thousands of people have gathered to remember Elvis' death.

    Imagine yourself standing in Dublin with thousands of U2-fans remembering Bono when he has died..?
    Not for me at least.

  2. It's a part of rock history. The right man with the right sound and the right management at the right time.

    I highly doubt we'll understand the hype without understanding the historical situation. It's definitely more than music. But once it has started to roll big time, it keeps rolling. Especially if you're dead. It's the same with Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Jim Morrison, etc. Thin Lizzy are on the brink of having been too small, so they just cover a niche... so does Sid Vicious. I expect similar effects about Johnny Cash and, most likely, the Ramones.
