    Question about U2. Not really important ones, but my curiosity still asks for it.

    First, Where does BONO commes from ? I know it was first Bono VOx, but beaside that I Know nothing

    Secondly ... where does Egde comme from ?

    Then ... What does Anctung mean (achtung baby!) stand for.

    And finally, who and why chose U2 as the name of the band.

    äähm i try to say as much as i know in u2 by u2 is written that bono just saw a store in dublin called bonavox and he said thats how i wanna to be called ( maybe there is more beyond that )

    ähm i just know that the name the edge was "created" by bono

    and u2 because you can think that its not only them its u2

  3. Bonovox was the name of a hearing aid shop and means good voice. He got the name because he was loud.
    The Edge is believed to have either goten his name from his angular features when he was young, or becuase he is comfortable around heights and as such has a tendency to stay by the edges of building roofs and such. (I'm like that. My stagecraft teacher had to tell me to stay away from the edges on the school auditorium catwalk.)
    Achtung is german for atention.

    Bono Vox is a hearing aid store in dublin. It also is latin for "Good Voice". Somebody from Lypton Village (Gavin Friday, Guggi, etc.) gave him that name.

    Edge is called Edge because of his angular/sharp facial features. Bono gave him that nickname.

    Achtung Baby! means Attention Baby! In german I believe. It was a term their soundman used. It was his favorite line from the movie The Producers

    When they were trying to come up with a new name, Steve Averill gave them a list of 5 or 6 names to choose from. They chose it because it could be interpreted as many things, and it's also the one that they disagreed on the least.

  7. Just a curiosity: The line Achtung Baby actually had numerous quotes in some TV shows. I remember for example in Simpsons...

    has for the questions...they were all answered correctly

    I am just wondering ..

    Bono was born '' Paul Hewson '' that, I know. But legally, is his name Bono or Paul. When he signes a check. Is it as M.Hewson or Mister Bono.

    He is still Paul David Hewson. He once said though, that he doesn't like being called Paul, because his dad was the only one that would ever call him Paul, and he associated that with being in trouble!
