I'd go for a proper case. I've had one of these for a few months and it isn't at all bad. Protective, functional and has the smart magnets built in. Thinking about trading up to something a little higher end eventually but great for the price.

It's pretty thin.
I'm not quite sure how useful it is though... Haven't had an iPad without. -
I don't think iPad screens break as often as smart phone screens though. -
