I think a higher power inspired Bono to write this one. He dedicated it to Michael many times, including Mexico City and Boston. And even though it was written months before his death, it really is about him. It's about the unfortunate things that happen sometimes to rock stars... Great song though.

Until the end of the world: 'I was drowning my sorrows, but my sorrows learnt to swim, surrounded me, going down on me..etc..'

Could we add October...little lyrics, but maybe the saddest music and the lyrics just show some kind of isolation from the world, a kind of loneliness of someone who is sad and can't stop it. It's Bono and his mother again of course.
I agree with most of what you mentioned above as well.

Same lyrics as in the relate to topic; I find these lyrics very sad:-

"And I know it aches, how your heart it breaks
You can only take so much
Walk on, walk on

I don't find them sad, they're so hopeful...

running to stand still is such a sad song, by my interpretation its about avery true romance in a very hopeless desolate scene were the only escape is through the very thing that is killing them

with or without you is so sad. by my interpretation, its about comming to the realization that whether he's with her or not he is in pain, he realizes that there is no remedy

all I want is you: so sad and so glorious at the sametime. he's made thousands of promises claiming that he wants so much but in the end all he really wants is her.

bad does a similar thing. it is sad in that he can't reach his freind but at the sametime he realises something about himself. he cares and he will not stop careing, he will not enter this hopeless cycle of apathy where he cannot feel what is around him and what is happening to him, he will not let his conscience go to sleep, he is wide awake, its torment but it is not his choice.

Kite is so sad. he has grown out of the enchantments about his father which he had long lived by and now sees him as just another person, a person just like him in alot of ways.I dunno if he talks to his awn child during this song because it sounds like it. assumeing that he is he goes own to tell his own child that he is not infalible either, he is like them too.

wow U2 is awsome

i can't realy think about these songs as sad... they always inspire me... it's more or less like ok, there's a lot of fucked up things in this world, not everything is beautiful, but if you have faith and hope, you can find those that are...

when Bono gives a meaning to ''bad'' like in chicago when he talks about the kid who died because of an heroine overdose.

but, if you look simply the lyrics I think peace on earth is the saddest song. Because its a ''simple ''subject, and also something that affects every of us.

One.

"You gave me nothing now it's all I've got."

"You ask me to enter, then you make me crawl
I can't be holding on, to what you've got. When all you've got is hurt."

Amazing lyrics. So true sometimes.
