Hey guyz, dunno if somebody did already put up this topic in the past, but still...
What is your favourite version of the Beautiful Day?
Please name the shows and why!
Personally I like BD when it has some cool snippets in the end (like Searge. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band etc)
I like performances: Saitama last night, Vertigo Munich, Brazil, Live 8 and probably some others I dont remember...
Saitama 12-04-2006 is the best for me, with the Presence of the Lord snippet (Eric Clapton). Just awesome...love all Vertigo-BD's, by the way. Bono improvises a lot before singing 'See the bird with a leaf in her mouth'. And the end is always chilling..
Also a mention for Melbourne 11-18-2006, with Bono singing: 'I remember standing on stage with Paul McCartney, Live 8, standing on stage with Paul McFuckingCartney, now fill that....The Sergeant Peppers..etc' Just brilliant...
Elevation was quite good too, but not that special compared with Vertigo.
I love the Live8 performance. Fucking brilliat. Also Saitama 11-29, as Gerard pointed, is really good (that month Bono got his voice back after almost 10 years! )
Elevation was quite good too, but not that special compared with Vertigo.
ehhh. Cant agree with that
Elevation had more "touch me's" and each chorus he changed it up. Sometimes he said touch me twice and sometimes he said it 3 times. Boston is an example. Also, the end with the goal is soul. soo much energy and emotion there. You can tell in Bono's voice. Gives me chills every performance I hear!! Vertigo is good however. More snippets but less power!

theres a lot more 'body' to the sound of the Elevation performances. Even on average recordings you can still gauge the power of those chord's from Edge but on any average Vertigo recording the song lacks any real depth. Love that first Saitama performance though
