1. Can't help it

I gotta confess that solid-body Gretsches are not as attractive to me as their gorgeous hollow bodies though
  2. I was about to say that I think Edge is becoming a bit of Tele man these days (in terms of live), then I did a quick tally-up in my head with all post-2000 albums and realised that probably wasn't that spot-on an observation...

    ATYCLB:

    BD - Explorer
    Stuck - Strat / acoustic
Elevation - SG (plus that one time on the Exp.)
    Walk On - LP
    Kite - LP
    IALW - LP / Explorer
    Wild Honey - acoustic
    POE - Strat / acoustic
WILATW - Strat (ok, a cheat as I know it was a snippet...)
    NY - Explorer
    Grace - n/a
TGBHF - acoustic + Explorer once or twice

    HTDAAB:

    Vertigo - Tele
    MD - LP / Exp.
    SYCMIOYO - Rick.
    LAPOE - Variax
    COBL - Gretsch
    ABOY - Casino
    AMAAW - acoustic
Crumbs - Casino, if memory serves?
    OSC - n/a
OOTS - Gretsch, if memory serves again?
    Yahweh - acoustic
    Fast Cars - acoustic

    NLOTH:

    NLOTH - Casino
    Magnificent - Grestch
    MOS - Grestch / Strat
    UC - LP
Crazy - Tele + Gretsch on special occasions
    GOYB - Tele
    SUC - n/a
    Fez - n/a
    White As Snow - n/a
    Breathe - Casino
    Cedars - n/a

    SOI:

    Miracle - Casino
    EBW - n/a
    California - Tele
    SFS - Explorer
    Iris - Strat
    Volcano - Casino
    RBW - LP
    Cedarwood - Casino
    SLABT - n/a
    Reach Me Now - n/a
    The Troubles - Exp
    Lucifer's Hands - Tele
    Crystal Ballroom - Tele

So maybe in hindsight it's not too far off to say that his go-to axes these days are Teles or the Casino. He certainly seems less inclined to go for a Strat or an LP unlike the 80s / 90s. Thoughts?
  3. I was going to post something regarding the Tele and Crystal Ballroom. I KNEW that was a twangy Tele song from the moment I heard it

My thought is that he seems to choose the Tele or the Casino for newly, scarcely rehearsed songs. If they are to debut a song, odds are that Edge might pick up one of these guitars instead of the LP, the Explorer or the Strat. Why? I'm inclined to think it might not have to do with the sound, but with the feel of the axe in question. Tele has a very distinctive weight balance and neck touch that no other guitar can give.
  4. Recognize the first tune? Cool sounding pedal.

  5. Our beloved ♥ Sounds pretty thin, probably due to the guitar rather than the pedal actually. It needed a bit more punch, except the Ebow part which was flatless.

Michael Kerry Patriot Limited in natural, for 350€: http://www.guitarristas.info/anuncios/michael-kelly-patriot-limited/441162

Pretty different among them, I know, but all of them have humbuckers and single coils (or dual-coil humbuckers) for the sake of versatility, and all of them look neat Any suggestions for what should I go for? The Michael Kerry is probably the best option for a long term guitar, but then again I would be just as scared to bump it as with my '89 american Strat I have a soft spot for the Ibanez SA-260 as it looks so Mark Knopfler/Santana-ish...

Finally went for the SA-260 because the seller left it for 150 plus shipping, which was a deal breaker. I just couldn't go wrong for that money - and I didn't. God it sounds and looks absolutely terrific.

The black Ibanez is arriving today, I might sell it since it will be pretty similar spec wise to the SA260 - and much less gorgeous
  7. what's the deal with these guitars? I might be wrong, but I think I haven't seen him use these before this tour?

  8. Apparently he acquired a bunch of custom shop strats for this tour.
  9. Our friend Jeff (anstratdubh) spoke to Dallas and it seems Edge bought a shitload of new (well, probably "not new" but you get it - new to him) guitars for this tour, mostly everything he's playing on stage is new to him.
  10. I wonder why. did he suddenly get scared his old gems might fall apart this tour?
  11. I guess being abundantly rained over the last tour and a couple of accidents did help him realize he just doesn't need to bring all his gems on tour all the time
