Hi all,

Please help me with your expert advice if you can.

I downloaded the first part of the Lovetown concert at the Point Depot on Dec 27th 1989 three days ago. I've just tried downloading the second part (via rapidshare.com) using the 'free' option and it keeps coming up with the message "You have reached the limit for free users". Then it tells me I have to wait 30 minutes if I want to download.

Now I thought as 'free' downloaders you were allowed a single download per day. Am I wrong? Or, if I'm correct, why can't I download instantly three days after my last download?

Any advice would be much appreciated as I really want to complete this download

Thank you all.

Peace!!

Daz!!

Rapidshare is a pain. You shouldn't be limited to one download per day. Theres usually around a 2 hour wait in between downloads but Rpidshare likes to be cranky an change the time limit or tell you that you are already downloading a file. Just kep trying

Thank you very much for the info. It seems then that downloading is a very random and frustrating process then.

As you say, I'll keep on trying.

Thanks again!

Hey Darren, I get that a lot (if not most) of the time lol. Basically, you just got to hope you get lucky - I don't know when they do it, but if you catch RS on "Happy Hour", it seems to work fine, although again it's one download and then you have to wait an eternity for the next. The only genuine way to bypass everything is a Premium account, but I'm not getting one and am happy to persevere with the Free thing in this respect!

Rapidshare has (supposedly) 240 gigabits of bandwidth and 4.5 petabytes of storage over several servers in many countries.

As a Free User, you have to endure an annoying wait of about two-three minutes and you can start downloading again and entering the Captcha code. As a Free User, you are required, on top of the 2-3 minutes you're already waiting, for every Megabyte you download you have to wait one minute, up to 105 minutes (Rapidshare only allows 105MB file uploads at maximum). You can only upload 100MB (at Rapidshare.com) and 300MB (at Rapidshare.de). As of 22 June 2008 the Captcha code has changed to a tri-dimensional grid with symbols in bas-relief. After three consecutive failures to enter the Captcha properly, you will be blocked. You can get around this by pressing Backspace on your keyboard - not the Back button in your web browser, and you can have up to 25 attempts before you are locked out completely.

Happy Hours may also be activated at any time; however; the general times it starts is Monday - Friday 00:00h - 18:00h (UTC+1), and Saturday - Sunday 00:00h - 14:00h (UTC+1), and only if RS has enough bandwidth to spare.

On June 3 2008, Rapidshare redesigned their website to something terribly ugly. Premium Users (those who pay the ransom fee) can download up to 50 gigabytes within five days (50 000 megabytes) from the original allowance of 25 gigabytes (25 000 megabytes) per five days. Again, Rapidshare changed their download allowances from 50 gigabytes per five days to 10 gigabytes per day. At the same time, they limited the number of IP addresses that could download from one account to one, with the scripting changed to make it much easier for spambots and linkbots to use Rapidshare.

I took a monthly membership some weeks ago. I enjoyed it a lot.
