1. I just listened to some B-sides of the Joshua Tree and suddenly I remembered something. I once read that Sweetest Thing and Trip Through Your Wires 'belong' to each other and that counts for other songs of the album too. I only can't remember them. Anyone here who knows it all?

    Maybe, this will help

    Restore The Joshua Tree [album]!

  3. You are correct. And in interviews U2 stated that originally The Joshua Tree was to be a double album. Many of the tracks that later made into B-Sides could have been album tracks.

There was an essay online about this called "Restoring the Joshua Tree". The tracklist on that isn't 'official' but I have made a CD with that tracklisting and it's the version of The Joshua Tree that I listen to most.

    Here's the article:

  4. Great. I will try it. Luminous Times (Hold On To Love) is such a great song... wow. One of their best B-sides.

Indeed it is they should have put that on instead of Trip through your Wires (and put on Walk to the Water as well). I think artists make all albums so that there is at least 1 or 2 songs that you don't like.

Also Love Comes Tumbling should have made it onto the unforgettable fire, to me that's a no brainer, you don't need 4th of July, or Elvis and America.

In that respect, Acthung Baby is easily their best album, as I like every song on it, albeit to different degrees. While on the JT I don't really like RHMT, OTH and especially TTYW.

You don't even need the whole Unforgettable Fire album.

Luminous Times and Walk To The Water are great songs but they just would not have fitted on the JT album. Spanish Eyes might have but all of the other Joshua Tree b-sides just would not have fitted on the album I don't think.

Love Comes Tumbling could mave made it onto UF though

What if they put LT on instead of TTYW?
  9. I agree with Gerard here... both great songs

and LCT is way better than Elvis and America. I like 4th Of July though.

  10. LT just doesnt fit on the album. Trip might not be as good but it fits the feel of the album and can be played live. Simple decision
