1. How many more albums have U2 got got left in them. Are they going to do a Rolling Stones and continue touring as effectively a greatest hit karoake band.

At the moment U2 are still relevant and in my humble opinion are the most sucessful music artists in the world today. Take into account album sales , record sales etc...........

In time, possibly after retirment U2 ,will get the credit that is due to them. I think that in the history of modern music their record of being at the very top for over 20 years will take some beating.

    U2 rock
  2. Hopefully they aren't going to do a rolling stones, and keep touring until they all die.
The band has even said as much. They want to go out on a high note.

Bono on U2 touring in their 60s:

"A terrifying thought. Standing there with deep lines. Turn around and there's Larry Mullen,
    still looking 14".

With regards to albums I think they have perhaps 2/3 more in them (not counting compilationes, remasters etc) unless of course they take 4 years for each like they did with NLOTH.
  3. U2's place in history..hmm..and interesting topic with loads of discussions, I think.

I think the next album (or the one after that) will be their last. So I give them 1 or 2 new albums before they will quit. And I hope they will quit in style.

U2's place in musical history is already there. They were the band of the eighties, actually were the band of the nineties too (although there were enough competitors) and they kept innovative in the 21th century, with, hopefully, NLOTH being a good example for that.

U2 is a strange band: You'll love them of you'll hate them. Many will say U2 is overrated, many others will say U2 is underrated. For myself, I think U2 is very special. They made some great music troughout their career with highlights and with moments going downhill.

But the fact that they're still relevant today (in my eyes), that they are awesome when playing live and that they're still together after more than 30 years (quite unique) makes them great and historical for me.

Man, you are the owner of the truth!!!!! I could post a reply, but my words are the yours.

  5. Good to share the same opinion
  6. I think Casper pretty much said it all. They were relevant in all there era's and they're one of the longest-existing bands (33 years! ). They had numberous hits, songs like WOWY, One, ISHFWILF, BD, COBL, AIWIY, Pride, SBS and Streets will be played by the radio for the next 1.000.000 years.
They won't be forgotten once they quit.
  7. I think U2 wouldn't want to stop. I mean why quit when they've got this far
  8. P.S. U2 will last FOREVER lol

  9. Do you want to see a 65-year old Bono on stage, having difficulties singing songs like One which he once sung with ease?

I hope U2 will quit when the time is there. It might be a forced break up if one of the members dies or gets ill (let's hope not of course) but I sincerely hope they will quit in style.
  10. *no way* That would be terrible
  11. by the way the "No way that would be terrible "was a reply to the the 65 year old Bono thing
P.S ican't use the quote thing
