1. Edit:

    So wow.

Bad stayed. Somewhat. As did Walk On and IALW, like a particularly pungent bit of flatulence.

    Stuck is gone .

And we got a new intro in ROTSG, MOTD, Mercy, SE, Boy Falls..., EBW, NS and Glastonbury. UV was mixed up with a rocking version of HMTMKMKM, while Miss Sarajevo also returned from the VT.

Pride & NYD came back and IWF was finally played. There was also 4 performances of TUF.

Out went Breath, Stay, AoH, Desire, UC,YBR, and with the exception of one performance NLOTH.

EBTTRT, TTTYAATW, IGWSHA and Drowning Man have all been rehearsed at some stage but not played. Will any of them feature?

So what changes do people envision for NZ & Australia?
  2. We already had a similar topic, didn't we?

Anyway, much depends on how many new songs, if any, they're going to play. Breathe was a good opener, better than Magnificent and NLOTH. I think U2 should be moving forward. Keep the gems (UV, TUF, One tree hill, Acrobat... Bad perhaps, if they play it decently), a very few singles, and perhaps introduce some relatively unknown songs (Luminous Times could be one!). But I'm hoping to see more new outstanding stuff. Songs like Pride, WOWY, and even Bad, are great, but I take it we should move on now...
  3. Thanks
  4. That one was a topic designed to talk/moan about the already played setlists... We can leave this one open for now, no big deal after all.

I pray for a radical change in the final part of the shows (10 last songs), of course including the encore.

If we get a new albu, then obviously there will be lots of changes... But, even in case the album gets delayed, I want the setlists to rotate much more... And include some rocker oldies (Out Of Control, The Electric Co, maybe ASOH or Gloria...).
  5. Mercy!!

I can dream cant I? Anyway, my only certainty is that we'll see 'I Will Follow' at some point. I would love to see a few from Pop, and Zooropa. Maybe the likes of Mofo and The First Time. Mofo would rock the house I reckon. An oldie I'd LOVE to hear is '11 O'Clock Tick Tock'.

I agree, although I hope they'll leave IWF out - and maybe get something new or rarely played in?
  7. Well, think of it this way.

If they're still touring into late next year, and these "U2 Remasters" are coming out one year at a time, either "Rattle and Hum" or "Achtung Baby" will get the next treatment, depending on which they think will do better.

A lot of people think they pushed TUF material (TUF, Pride, MLK, some shows had Bad) because the remaster was getting released. If we're lucky, maybe they'll try to push material off of either of those two albums- and I'm okay with either

    EDIT:

    Just think...

R&H: Hawkmoon 269, All I Want is You, Van Diemen's Land
AB: So Cruel, Wild Horses, EBTTRT, Tryin' to Throw Your Arms...

    the possibilties are amazing
  8. Also, a setlist idea I've been toying with for ages...

I'm from Chicago, so this is not biased at all. I just think it would rock.

I think U2 should play "New York" at every show they play in New York...and ONLY the NY shows. I sort of want them to own that song now, and for the boys to break it out in that city. It may be rough playing shows to a New York crowd while you're ACTUALLY in New Jersey on the 360° Tour, but hey- I don't think they'd mind, since U2 would be singing about many of the audience's home city.

I just think it would be so neat for that song to only pop up on those dates. Something TRULY special.
  9. +1 to the New York opinion, Matt. I can't stand when they do not respect their own songs... In fact, I virtually always skip that song in the 2001 bootlegs which weren't at NY.

Yeah, the Elevation Boston version is good on that DVD, and I particularly like the B&W effect (normally I hate when they screw with things on concert DVDs- leave it the way it was meant to be seen- but that worked wonders for me)....but at the same time, I had to wonder...did Boston feel like they were getting slapped in the face? They literally wrote a song about how much New York rocks, and then rubbed it in 30 or 40-some states's noses!

But think if they had established this already- can you imagine, attending shows now and for years to come, that when you were in New York, you knew they were going to play that song, and you were just hanging on it?

    I'd love it.
  11. I had a great dream the other night. Kingdom was just finishing, Larry stepped on the the stage, sat down, placed his earphones in his ears and started banging out...Gloria!

    Now that IS unlikely!!!!

However, I've loved the return of TUF and UV and would love to see similar returns for songs like Last Night On Earth or Gone, maybe Even Better or Wild Horses is more likely, but imagine a regular return of One Tree Hill or HMTMKMKM!!!! From the earlier albums I would just love to see A Day Without Me and I've been listening to alot of Unforgettable Fire shows recently and think Wire would fit in early in the set magnificently.

In reality though, if we are going to see a return from songs dropped a previous tours I'd put money on:

    Even Better,
    Discotheque,
    Wild Horses.

I have had the thought before that they could leave one space (maybe the opening of the encore) for a complete random song. The setlist, especially from COBL onwards, has stayed pretty much as standard as you get. If they just played a completely different song at the beginning of the encore (or inbetween WOWY/MOS) every night I would be ecstatic. I'll be in Frankfurt next year and the thought of a surprise late in the set would keep me going through the 'anthems/general crowd pleasers' such as SBS, Pride (if it comes back, I hope not), Streets (which is still my favourtie song in the world, ever, but even I think they need to give it a rest and rediscover it), One and WOWY.

Can't wait to see what happens. Hope they don't disappoint us.
