Which Never-Performed Song Do You Most Want To Hear Live?

Acrobat Fez-beeing born Red in midnight town and Heartland
-
Definitely When I Look At The World or The Playboy Mansion -
WILATW has always been a favourite standout track from ATYCLB to me.
I remember The Edge claiming the reason they didn't play it is that they wrote and recorded it so fast that the band couldn't remember how to play it. I call bullshit on that. As a songwriter myself, I know that recording a song requires MULTIPLE takes. Enough that by the end of it you start to wish you had never even written the damn song. I doubt they did it so swiftly that it didn't imprint in their minds.
Regardless, most of U2's chords are relatively simple. It really shouldn't be that hard for them to figure it out. -

Maybe their just a bit lazy sometimes
. I would love to hear WILATW too, but also Acrobat, Playboy Mansion and Some Days Are Better Then Others. I really like those songs -
When I Look at the World
Acrobat
Heartland
Promenade
-
It appears to me that list has quite a few (at the very least) songs missing, doesn't it? :S
Also there are plenty of songs that can barely be considered to have been played live I'd really like them to play as well, despite these having been "performed".

Great point! Modern Bono simply wouldn't be able to maximize some songs' live potential with regards to his voice. I'm not saying his voice has got worse, but it has changed and to some extent deviated from its raunchy, youthful, original form. This only applies to a small number of songs, however – in my opinion.

I'd be happy for virtually all songs of that list to be played, but the stand-outs for me (taking Bono's current voice into account) are:
Promenade
4th of July (I could easily imagine 'dat shit as an intro or segue into a song; especially one from TUF or JT)
Red Hill Mining Town
Heartland ('Edge solo perhaps?)
The Playboy Mansion
Peace On Earth
When I Look At The World
Fez - Being Born
Cedars Of Lebanon (imagine 'Edge's backing vocals on this one...)
P.S: Yes I think Bono would be able to do a perfectly fantastic job on all of the above as of 2011. Also, it's a damn shame they fucked up Mercy completely by rewriting it far too much. They should've just finished it rather than making it so that shit is fucked up.

I can only agree. There is no fucking way in the world that the sheer musical genius of the quartette is unable to remotely reproduce such a relatively clear, simple, and straightforward song – that they themselves created to begin with. -
Welcome back, Carl
Good to see you back.
I don't think Mercy was "that" fucked up on the 360 Tour, man... It just had a bunch of different lyrics and the 'because, because' part, which last 5 seconds. The core and basic structure of the song was still the same, and a few seconds can't ruin a 5 minutes long track. -
Got to be:
Fez-Being Born,
DM
Acrobat.
I think SDABTO would be great as a snippet -
- Love Comes Tumbling ;
- Fez-Being Born ;
- Rise Up ;
- Salomé ;
- Acrobat ; -

Thanks lol. I wish I'd been more active "recently" but I don't spend much time on forums at all. This one is my favorite, however. ^^
Also, you're right. I'm just being hard on it because of my extreme expectations. I will quote myself from youtube (from way back when) however on the new arrangement:
"It's an immense improvement over Zürich #2, though it's a shame that Bono has removed some of the lyrics, most of which was much better than what he replaced them with.
That said, it appears obvious that this is one of the least rehersed song performances U2 has ever made; there's lots left to do, but it could really work out well if you put some work into the solo, lyrics, and end of the refrain ("because, because, because we can – we must!") that's just shit."
Later added:
"To elaborate:
All original verse lyrics need to return, the bridge (I'm ripping the stitches...) needs to return, the "Because, because, because we can, we must" part has to go; the new chorus is fine otherwise but it should end differently. The new solo is also a great addition but the song should end with "I am alive, baby i'm born again and again..." with an outro chorus repetition.
That'd be sweet to me. <3" -
Red Hill miningtown and Acrobat, played with a big orchestra, like the dutch Metropole orchestra. -
I actually don't want to hear Acrobar any time soon. Should be at the final show.
Although I would love Dronwing Man, Red Hill, Heartland, WILATW and Cedars. Possibly Stand Up Comedy too.
