1. Has anyone heard anything good from this band? They're supporting U2 in some of this leg's shows.

I'd like to have a small "best of" list, just to know more or less what they're gonna play at the next Sunday's concert. I hate attending concerts without knowing any of the songs! So a quick Best Of list would help, I can youtube the songs and make out my mind

I found this on a Yahoo Answers topic but I prefer the opinion of some of you, dear U2starters:

    Roland
    Obstacle 1
    Obstacle 2
    Evil
    Say Hello To The Angels
    Pioneer To The Falls
    No I In Threesome
    Slow Hands
    NYC
    Heinrich Maneuver
    Hands Away

    Thanks in advance, people
  2. I only have their first two albums, out of which I still like the first one best.
The new one is supposed to be really good again. Couldn't help you with a proper best of list, but I would listen to their first and latest album if I were you.
  3. Oh nice. I'm thinking of seeing them in November so you wouldn't mind telling me if they're any good?
  4. I've heard they're pretty good, the kind of band that gets (much) better live, something like Snow Patrol or so.

Ok, thanks for the tip JR. But I don't have the original albums and I'm all against piracy so... unless I find them at a decent price any soon, I need a list of speciphic tracks to listen THanks anyway, I had in mind the idea of buying some of their stuff!
  5. I'll see them in Brussels tomorrow, but opening for U2 is a bit different from their own concerts in smaller venues.

I saw them on a small festival about 4 years ago and was really impressed then.
  6. They were okay in Paris, OneRepublic or Snow Patrol are better but it's okay. Even though I only knew one song, from the U2 Mojo disc
  7. I've listened to some songs now and, from what I've heard, they sound pretty good. Somehow remind me of Franz Ferdinand with some strokes of The Killers, Snow Patrol and maybe Arcade Fire. I like what I'm hearing.

PDA didn't hit me although it was the only title I recognised at first. Not an impressive song.
Say Hello To The Angels IS a great tune, I have yet to fully understand the lyrics (or search them) but I loved it at first sight.
Now listening to Lights. Wow, this is a fantastic song. Some R.E.M. reminiscenses here

This is the Best Of I've eventually made:

    Roland
    Obstacle 1
    Evil
    Say Hello To The Angels
    Pioneer To The Falls
    No I In Threesome
    Slow Hands
    Heinrich Maneuver
    Hands Away
    No I in Threesome
    Pace is the Trick
    C'mere
    Narc
    Leif Erickson
    Take You On a Cruise
    Specialist
    Stella
    PDA
A Time to Be So Small
    Song Seven
    Lights

Typical 20-songs Best Of, maybe they'll allow me not to get bored on the concert
  8. I'm a big Interpol fan, they are like my 4th favourite band( and yes I really have a top), so I own all of their albums, 4 actually.

The order of preference for me is this:

    Turn on the bright lights
    antics
    interpol
    our love to admire

I don't like OLTA that much, I think it's a letdown but the first 2 are masterpieces if you can get in the mood.
    ´
They have real masterpieces like PDA( best instrumental ever), Narc, Evil, Take you on a cruise, obstacle 1, The heinrich maneuver and "Stella was a diver and she was always down"( that's actually the name of the song).

I highly recommend this band, it's fresh, new wave with a signature sounding guitar, great bass, great drumming and awesome lyrics if you like the style.

    A great band nowadays =D
  9. Heard of them, don't know any songs though but I'll see them tonight. Wonder what they will be like.

  10. Both Brussels setlists will be a good tip of what they'll play in San Sebastian, so enjoy them and try to get a setlist or whatever
  11. I was very bored during their support concert in Paris. I knew a few songs and they are not good live. And all songs seems to be very very similar. I've enjoyed just Kasabian as support, everything else was boring...
  12. I've seen some very good support bands for U2 over the years; Snow Patrol, Coldplay, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stereo MC's, BB King, Pretenders, Big Audio Dynamite, Claw Boys Claw.

But unfortunately, also very bad supports: Fatima Mansions, Skunk Anansie, Kelis to name a few.
