Bad wording on my part. I want them to nail it but I doubt they will pull it off. Bono basically needs to be God or Popmart Bono in order to not be perceived as the tosser that most people see him as.

Of course they did, but I understand what they are saying Bono isnt the most loved man over the world.
here we go, how many bands get a chance to prove their worth to 5the world over and over, will U2 triumph like 1985 live aid or 2000 irving hall plaza or Slain...or will they fall short like the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of fame and just about every No Line on the horizon promotional appearance? I can't wait to find out.
In the meantime they must play the best setlist of all time:
I will follow
New years day
Sunday bloody
Pride
Out of control
Bad
Streets
Bullet
Running to strand
Still haven't found
Desire
All i want is you-
break-
The fly
Mysterious
Until end of world
One
Elevation
Beautiful day
vertigo
City of blinding-
break-
Glastonbury
Kite
With or without you...
No one is going to this fest to see the new material - so for just this once they NEED to give the audience what it wants, by the time they get to Pride people will be out of their minds and then hit them with Bad/Streets, wow. Of course the band won't come anywhere close to this type of set nor will they impress me and we will probably have to sit through another 360 set list...but why, why not go for broke?
I wonder if they will play a 360 tour setlist there or a complete new setlist.
I think the set list will be something like this.
1. Vertigo
2. Beautiful day
3. I will Follow
4. Get On Your Boots
5. Magnificent
6. Mysterious Ways
7. Elevation
8. New years Day
9. Until the end of the world
10. I Still Haven’t Found What I’m looking for
11. Sweetest thing
12. Glastonbury
13. North star
14. Sometimes You cant make it on your Own
15. Pride
16. Sunday Bloody Sunday
17. Where the Streets have no name
18. Desire
19. One
20. With or Without You
Pretty Standard with maybe Sweetest Thing as this was a huge hit in the UK in 98
The Glastobury crowd of now is not the same as the old. Less hippies more mobile phone clad teensters. U2 will blow there fekin novelty hats off.
I would love to see costume changes, something to have fun - like The edge in his joshua tree garb or adam in his zoo tv stuff, and larry, well t-shirt and jeans of course, and what if Bono came out in a mullet wig! They could have the fans eating out of their hands and set the standard for big band big concert appearances for a long time... this could be remembered like a Beatles at Shea stadium.
You really think people will booing at U2??? No way they are respected, and they are the biggest band in the worl so why will you boo at them
cause they will play a crap set list when the people will only want the hits...and they will be booed simply because they are not radiohead, the fest goers are there every year and they know what to expect from the best/biggest bands in the world and anything short of that the fans will smell the weakness in the air and they will let their voices be heard...although this must be the most anticipated concert since floyd reuniting for live 8, i think?
