I don't know about that. We will have to see I guess but I just don't see U2 fans being a fan of Trump's tactics. I'm not saying anything about his politics. He hasn't even really said anything on his politics. haha
Adam did say on that Radio Interview yesterday something to the effect of having to be careful not to judge him before he's had the chance to do anything whilst in power.

So I think anything they do or say may be of the more subtle variety, perhaps turned down a few notches from what we witnessed at Dreamfest, as the guy is in power now. So they probably have to change tack somewhat, but I really don't expect them to go too easy on him.

Let's hope. Even though Bono is never that reliable when it comes to album release predictions, it would be pretty sad if they released a video on Christmas Day 2016 reassuring us that "Songs of Experience" is coming...but then had to make another video Christmas 2017 to remind us of the same thing.

I know they are getting older, but man would I love for a surprise album release again this spring/summer and then a new leg of I & E already this fall. If they already get their touring mojo back with the JT shows, why not keep the momentum going?
He said this year, I wouldn't be suprised if it will be 31 december

It will be interesting. The philanthropist Bono will want a path to the new administration, so I'm curious to see how delicate the approach will be...
  4. I'm certain Bono has his own political team to advise him, but if there's one thing that's certain it's the fact Bono won't let himself be bullied around by politicians.

    U2 were drunk on Hillary.
Sure, they never explicitly endorsed her -- but they didn't have to.

If he does his Vegas schtick with Trump during Desire etc. he's going to piss off elements of the U2 base, and the Trump administration -- with whom he must work.

But enough of that here, move it to Politics Thread #2 if we're to continue this.
  6. Man I hope U2 continues to roast Trump. Vegas and Dreamforce showed that U2 doesn't give a damn about pleasing the Trump supporters who happen to be in the crowd. Plus, if Bono's philanthropic work has shown anything, it has shown that you don't need to be a politician to do a politician's job.
  7. Oh, no, no... U2 will lose fans again...
  8. They'll gain even more.

Wasn't meaning he'd be bullied. Not at all. My point was there's a sense of diplomacy involved in what he does. And he knows how to use it. He won over many adversaries... If you can win over the likes of Jesse Helms, you have the ability to win over anybody. But this is a different animal. Even on JT when he was critical of Reagan and Thatcher, he did it in a certain, almost subtle way...
  10. Saying "And President Reagan comes up to me, his face red like a rose in a thorn bush" is not very subtle.
It's what they have defended all their career. If someone has a problem with their viewpoints, they can go to a Ted Nugent concert.
