My hope is that U2 will return to their passion and their joy of being in a band and making the music they love. To me SOI
was a success at least artistically because they've done just that. It was innocence with a big ironic wink (nothing innocent
about production, ambition & perfection). The sort of wink that makes music timeless, or at least transcend the issues of the day.
If it takes a disguised trip to the nostalgia of the JT, so be it. I'm looking forward to it. But please make it a trip of passion and
of joy and stop whining about relevance. In the words of that famous commercial slogan: Just do it!

You certainly have a way with words, Joyce!

Like the world has to hear what U2 say on their new album that will probably come out long after the dust settles on whatever narrative they want to preach. I call bullshit. The songs are there and they are in the studio mixing it and overproducing it beyond recognition.

My bad feeling too. Overproduction which leaves us with a pile of flat songs and safe guitar riffs.
  3. Agree with Joyce.

Too much talk at the moment.

Be a rockband, play the new record and on tour dont' forget and honor your best songs of the past.
  4. How much I love the announcement of the JT-shows, it also feels a bit like a filler. Let's keep them (audiences and fans) happy while we postpone SOE again.

Let's hope 2017 will be a quiet year in terms of disasters, coups, attacks, etc. Otherwise U2 will indeed never release it. U2 and politics always had a relationship, but postponing an album because of Trump, whether you like him or not, is ridiculous.

Would be nice to have a quiet year indeed.
  6. The only thing that I would say regarding some of the negativity about the album delay, ( I want it released as much as anyone) is the band are still surprising us, and that's important. Before the rumours nobody called a JT tour and even when the rumours started nobody expected them to announce playing the album in full, something they haven't done before. I totally get the negativity, I'd love u2 to release new music every day, but for me I refuse to believe they're delaying this for any reason other than to make it the best possible album it can be for themselves and the fans.
  7. I have no problem with the fact that The JT tour is meant to be as the end of the innocence period and the step to the release of SOE in September/October. And in 2018 the SOE tour.

Another postpone of SOE would make U2 very unbelievable and not relevant.

Throw us a bone - give us the title of one of the new songs… and a lyric. Are you going to play some of the new songs on TJTT?

Might. My favourite at the moment is “The Little Things That Give You Away”.Here’s a couple of verses:

"The night gave you a song,
a light had been turned on,
You walked out in the world
    like you belonged there
    As easy as a breeze,
each heart was yours to tease
Is it only me who sees there’s something wrong here
It’s the little things that give you away
    The words you cannot say
Your big mouth in the way
It’s the little things that reveal and betray
Has the hunter now become the prey
It’s the little things, the little things
    That give you away
I saw you on the stairs
You didn’t notice I was there
That’s cos you were busy talking at me
    Not to me
You were high above the storm
    A hurricane being born
But this freedom, it might cost you your liberty
It’s the little things that give you away
    The words you cannot say
Your big mouth in the way
It’s the little things that reveal and betray
Has the hunter now become the prey
It’s the little things, the little things that give you away"

Theres a very big tangent at the end of this this, that’s very revealing – but that’s enough for now.
