Joshua Tree Tour 2017
Legs (3): Leg 1 - North America, Leg 2 - Europe, Leg 3 - The Americas
Shows: 54
  1. How many people bought the album though because they love streets, ishfwilf, and WOWY. I'd say a lot, even though the die hard fans of any band know the best albums inside out the casual fans are still drawn towards the big hits. Some people will buy the album and probably give the others a listen but play they first three to death.
  2. I don't care if the jt tour a nostalgia tour is or not. Looking forward to hear tjt live in full. Based on the setlists the rest of the songs played are not interesting apart from things and asoh. Tjt tour is not much different from previous tours, about 8/9 New songs from the new album or in this case a complete album and the rest the hits. Thats how u2 works. They are a bit lazy in rehearsing songs which are not played often and not known by the public.

But being at a u2 show all my complains are gone.

Would you complain if they played Please, Discotheque, Lemon, Two Hearts, 11 O Clock, The Fly, etc. - all singles too?
    Please? Yes.
    Discotheque? Maybe.
    Lemon? Absolutely.
    Two Hearts? No.
    11 O'Clock Tick Tock? No.
    The Fly? No.

And you can't really say this about other tours because new songs are nowhere near the popularity of anything on The Joshua Tree. They're taking a 30-year old classic on the road, not a 6-month old album.
  4. They've never been Pearl Jam, playing 30 songs a night. They've never varied setlists too much. Could they change closers? Sure. But I love the JT, and I've gladly paid my $90 for a Glendale GA. Even if they started with Streets and ended with MOTD I'd be a happy camper. Everything else is icing on the cake. And I'm seeing Beck too

The Joshua Tree is only so popular though because of the strength of 3 particular singles which got the general publics attention. There will be a lot of people who know cedarwood road more than RHMT or raised by wolves more than Trip and there will definitely be people who are more familiar with every breaking wave and song for someone than some of the album tracks from TJT. Better doesn't always mean more well known.

You're right about 40 being their best closer but I think they're trying to stick to post-TJT stuff for the encore. The IWF performances have mostly been spontaneous so those don't really count imo. I would have loved to hear 40 in Toronto but i get why they're trying to close with something a little more recent.

Yes. But people are acting like casual fans who. Light the album only listened to those three songs.

I have albums by artists that I really love but then didn't continue to follow. If they were touring that album and I went to a show, I'd know those songs.

Indeed. I think the majority of the crowds know the entire Joshua Tree.
  9. Yep. Can confirm that a ton of people in the Toronto audience were singing along to, for example, the outro of One Tree Hill.
  10. For those who've been at the shows:

Did you find it almost eerie when Bono took the glasses off, and put the hat on? It was almost like the lighting was playing tricks on my eyes and he totally looked like his younger self there for a bit - it was tripping me out! (In a good way).

He looks so much younger with the hat on. I've said it a couple times but he seems to look a lot better on this tour. For much of I&E he was still recovering from the bike (bicycle) accident.

When I was watchingthe virst Exit videos from Vancouver I thought they showed old clips of Bono on the screen
