Plus, the 3rd leg still has the right balance of new songs vs old songs. Sure, they dropped Breathe, NLOTH and Unknown Caller, but they were playing EBW, North Star, Glastonbury, Mercy, Return of the Stingray Guitar. That took some serious balls.

thats why that is my fav tour + Zoo TV (too much AB is awesome)

  3. I like this version as a "studio substitute".
It's a mix between Bono's voice in Turin and a musical cover.

There's several songs I dislike, and usually those songs are very well appreciated by the community.

I just recently (last week) figured out that this bunch of songs I dislike, all have something in common: they're -for lack of a better word- midtempo songs.
I'm not that technical in music, so not sure if that's the right term or not, but that's what it sound to me.

And they're not the "chill" midtempo that's all over the place in Zooropa, no... these songs sometimes pretend to be a ballad, sometimes pretend to be more rock, but they don't make up their mind if they want to be a ballad or if they want to be a happy song or if they want to rock, and they just stay there in between all of it and I really can't get into those songs. I really find them boring, and usually are fan favorites.

    A Sort of Homecoming
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
    Iris
Stuck (yeah, not much of a fan favorite, but still)
    Magnificent
    Crumbs From Your Table
    Do You Feel Loved
    Last Night On Earth
    I Still Haven't Found
    ...

Anyway, I'm actually excited that I finally could put my finger on why I don't like these songs.
  5. Just watched EBW from the 2014 EMA’s. It is shocking how much Bono has aged since then.

damn... 3 of my top 10 U2 songs are on your list
  7. I love A sort of homecoming, I still haven't found....
Magnificent is not mid tempo to me, this rocks !

    But taste is personal
  8. Yeah, I know that some of these are many people's favorite songs, that's why I always felt uncomfortable about not liking them, and why I was happy when I sort of found the "why"... it's like finding out you're lactose intolerant and then saying "oooh, so THAT's why I don't like cakes and milkshakes! good, now I can move on!"

The riff is awesome... but other than that, this is the prototype of what I mean by "midtempo" (whatever name you want to give it is fine):

it has a danceable bit that could've been like a Mysterious Ways, but it's not, it's way too slower than that.
Slow? so it could've been a ballad or a reflexive song, let's say Forty? No, it's not that either, it's too danceable for that... so it's just there in a limbo in between... which now I understand that some people have no problem with it so they're free to enjoy it, while I'm here stuck with this allergy to that musical style that sort of irks me.

Umm, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses? Boring? I also didn't know that Crumbs From Your Table was appreciated here.

Fair play, at least you know what you don't like anymore.
