A great show this one, very different to their previous show at Roundhay Park in 93. On that occasion there were 120,000+ (possibly more) in attendance and it was hot. This time round it was a cosy little crowd of just under 54,000 and it was so, so cold. To say that it "rained" doesn't tell half the story. From an hour before U2 came on stage until well after they had left it absolutely PELTED it down - torrential, huge lumps of Yorkshire rain. And it never let up once during the show, not even for a minute. I don't ever recall being quite so wet or quite so cold. I didn't care about the weather one bit though I was in heaven. Pop isn't my favourite U2 album but this is still one of my favourite U2 shows. Bono was in a very odd and cheeky mood throughout and some of his banter was hilarious. The show itself was so energetic especially the opening salvo of Mofo and I Will Follow which could probably be heard over the border in Lancashire! The run from Singin' In The Rain, through Miami, Please (especially) to Streets was particularly spine-tingling. Great version of New Year's Day and also One, which seemed to bring a tear to everyone's eyes. I've seen U2 quite a number of times since but this show still ranks up there with the best. A privilege to have been there...

That was fun! As a relatively new U2 fan (about 3 years now), I love learning about all those old tours and bits of information that i wasn't around to hear of! This sites been pretty good on teaching me more about U2.
