U2's São Paulo #4 setlist, 25/10/17

The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 came to a close tonight with the fourth concert in São Paulo, and the fifty-first across the entire tour.

Before the show began, Bono played a prank on support act Noel Gallagher by taking to the stage dressed as a chicken. During the concert Bono paid tribute to David Bowie at the end of Bad, with Heroes being snippeted at the end of the song. Where the Streets Have No Name had a rare double snippet at the end of the song.

New Year's Day was played at every concert on a tour for the first time ever (at least, as far as we can document)! It debuted on the first night of the Pre-War leg of the War Tour and was likely performed at every concert, but the incomplete nature of setlists from that time mean we only have a record of 95 appearances over 108 concerts (tied with Sunday Bloody Sunday for the most-played song). The same is true for The Unforgettable Fire Tour, where we list it at 105 of 113 concerts (112 minus Live Aid). Every setlist from the original Joshua Tree Tour onwards is known, and it had missed at least concert per tour since then.

One Tree Hill, dedicated tonight for Chester Bennington, has now appeared 100 times across 99 concerts. 95 of these are full performances. It was played and snippeted at the same concert on one occasion. As it was played at all 51 concerts, the number of performances since before the tour have more than doubled! Mothers of the Disappeared featured Daniel Lanois, who sang the final verse of the song. With 52 performances in total, Red Hill Mining Town has now been played as many times as Breathe.

One was dedicated to the audience for what Bono declared to be the first time. The final song of the tour was I Will Follow. Notable for their omissions across the entire tour are Party Girl and 40. Party Girl had appeared on every tour except PopMart since debuting in 1983, while 40 has been performed in some form on every tour since it was debuted (albeit barely in the case of ZooTV and at the last possible moment on 360°).
