Marketingtechnisch sicher ein Coup. Die Eröffnung des Tesla Werkes in Brandenburg, welches Tesla gerne als Giga Factory Berlin promotet, findet in diesem Sommer statt. Und somit nur wenige Monate vor dem Jubiläum des Albums, das nur wenige Kilometer entfernt in Berlin entstanden ist und Band und Stadt seither untrennbar miteinander verbindet.

Bono, der selbst im Besitz eines Tesla Modells ist, soll sich der Idee gegenüber sehr angetan gezeigt haben. Er und Elon Musk hatten sich erstmals 2017 auf der Hochzeit von Guy Oseary in Rio de Janeiro getroffen. Eine weitergehende Kooperation, in etwa ein Sponsoring der nächsten Tour durch Tesla, ist jedoch nicht geplant. Die Pläne für den T3 Achtung Baby sollten eigentlich bereits Mitte März bekanntgegeben werden. Vermutlich wartet Tesla derzeit ab, da es publicitytechnisch um die Giga Factory gerade nicht zum Besten gestellt ist. Aus zuverlässiger Quelle wurde jedoch bekannt, dass sich ein Achtung Baby-Logo seitlich über dem Hinterrad des T3 befinden soll, in etwa so wie auf unserer Fotomontage im Titelbild. Auf der Mitte des Lenkrades befindet sich laut einer niederländischen Quelle eine Grafik des Zooropa Space Babys. Ein Mitarbeiter des Tesla Werkes in Tilburg hatte die Information in einem Tweet geteilt, diesen aber inzwischen wieder gelöscht. 

Bald auf dem Tesla-Lenkrad? U2s Space Baby

Über Auflage und Preise des Modells liegen uns derzeit keine Informationen vor, in der normalen Ausstattung kostet das Elektro-Fahrzeug derzeit ca. 44.000 Euro. Es hat eine Reichweite von 580 km und besitzt ein Glasdach über die gesamte Dachfläche. Wir haben bei Tesla Fotos des Modells angefragt, sobald uns diese oder weitere Informationen vorliegen, werden wir sie mit Euch teilen. 

We have to admit - Elon Musk has a really good sense of timing. And so, just in time for the 30th anniversary of Achtung Baby, Tesla will launch a correspondingly named special edition of their T3. It remains to be seen how enthusiastic U2 fans will be about their favorite band following in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and Co, to each of which Volkswagen dedicated a special model in the past. .

From a marketing point of view this is certainly a succsessful coup. The new Tesla plant, often promoted by Tesla as Giga Factory Berlin, is scheduled to open this summer – just a few months before the 30th anniversary of the album and only a few kilometers from Berlin – the city that is forever connected with the album and its spirit.

Presumably Tesla is currently waiting because the Giga Factory is currently not in the best of publicity. From a reliable source, however, it became known that there should be a Achtung Baby logo on the side above the rear wheel of the T3, similar to our photo montage in the cover picture. According to a Dutch source, there is a graphic of the Zooropa Space Baby on the center of the steering wheel. An employee of the Tesla plant in Tilburg shared the information in a tweet, but has since deleted it.

We currently do not have any information about the number to be produced and prices of this special U2 Tesla model. The standard version of this electric vehicle is currently priced around EUR 44,000. It has a driving range of 580km and a glass roof over the entire top. We asked Tesla to send us some pictures of the car model - as soon as we have these or any other information, we will certainly share them with you.
