A fantastic performance from midway through the Zooropa leg, with everyone mainly delivering their roles very well, resulting in tight musical performances throughout. Bono's voice is still in great shape here, with the tour wear still not entirely taking a toll on his voice yet.
The show begins with, as usual, solid performances of the Achtung Baby opening set accompanied by New Year's Day, which ended slightly earlier due to the band's decision not to play Tryin' to Throw Your Arms Around the World and instead enter the B-Stage set slightly earlier which is mostly just your average Zoo TV Outside Broadcast B-Stage set minus the notable inclusion of Van Diemen's Land which makes it's sixth and final appearance on the tour here.
Next up is a performance of Bad, which opens up the U2 live staples section of the evening consisting of one of my favourite snippets, which is Norwegian Wood, along with the Irish Heartbeat snippet and the standard All I Want Is You snippet which leads into a good version of Bullet the Blue Sky aside from Bono's mic popping in and out in places during his monologue which then carries on to a solid rendition of Running To Stand Still which is opened by a speech from Bono and then continues onto a fantastic version of Where the Streets Have No Name featuring an ending I have not heard yet on any Zoo TV version of the song until now which is Bongolese falsetto along with the "I wanna go there with you" ending line which adds slightly more to the song. Finally, Pride is a solid rendition that closes off a good performance of the main set.
The encores feature Bono's 1993 encore persona, Mr. MacPhisto, who delivers a fantastic version of Desire. In my opinion, these May to early July 1993 renditions have the best MacPhisto deliveries on the song, which is then proceeded with MacPhisto conducting a telephone call attempting to contact The Pope and then the combo of Ultra Violet and With or Without You with the latter consisting of the usual Shine Like Stars extra verse which also adds more to the song. After this, the show concludes with good versions of the typical Love Is Blindness and Can't Help Falling In Love combo.
Sound
I used a different recording known as the D3 DAT source from U2Torrents, which is a solid listening experience for the most part, even if the vocals do get a bit buried in places, such as during the verses of The Fly and the choruses of Mysterious Ways. Recording: Audience microphone - 3 stars
Audience
As usual, this is a fantastic Italian audience that basically does what you expect them to do. If you want them to sing along during songs, they'll do that. If you want them to respond to interaction attempts from Bono again, they'll do that, so this is a very good audience in my book.
Overall
Overall a very good show from around the middle stages of the Zooropa leg during the 1993 portion of the Zoo TV tour, with everyone performing their parts well and making few mistakes throughout as per usual with these later performances from Zoo TV. What's also worth noting about this show is the fact that this is the last show on the Zooropa leg of the tour where the band performs no new songs as starting from the next night, the band would gradually experiment by adding and removing Zooropa songs until late August along with this show having the last version of Van Diemen's Land until 2008.
