Performance notes: U2 botch Staring At The Sun the first time around and perform it again. At the end of Please, Larry plays a snippet of Sunday Bloody Sunday's distinctive drumming. This show features the live debuts of Mofo, Do You Feel Loved, Last Night On Earth, Gone, If God Will Send His Angels (only time a full band version is played), Staring At The Sun, Miami, Please, Discotheque, If You Wear That Velvet Dress, and Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me. The performance is not as bad as other reviews might let you think: the band has some problems but the only real difficulties occur on "Staring At The Sun" and "Discothèque". The other songs, apart from the last encore where you feel they really wanted to go away from the stage, were played well. Not great, but well. They are rough, and I like that feeling of not being perfect yet.
Sound
Well, it's like a radio broadcast, nothing to say. They could have put some more Edge in it, and that's the reason I'm not giving 5 stars. Recording: Soundboard - 5 stars
Audience
Audience was good. They sound quite loud during the classic songs and receive the new songs well. So, good audience.
Overall
As I said, before I started listening I was expecting a total mess but it just wasn't that kind of thing. Plus, we get treated to full versions of "If God Will Send His Angels" and "If You Wear That Velvet Dress". The second encore is a bit tired, but only because the band wanted to leave the stage. I think you should give a listen to this.
Highlights:
MOFO
Do You Feel Loved
Gone
If God Will Send His Angels (yes, Bono is sometimes out of time with Edge's guitar, but it's still a very nice performance)
Miami (a real surprise since is not my favourite song at all)
If You Wear That Velvet Dress (they should have played this full version at every show)
Lowlights:
The first Staring At The Sun (the second is fine, though)
Discothèque
The second encore (as explained above)
