1997-09-30 - Tel Aviv, Israel - Hayarkon Park

setlist

Comments: This is the only concert U2 have ever played in Israel, or anywhere in continental Asia. This is the only U2 concert in the Middle East until a show in Turkey in 2010.

Itinerary documents distributed to U2's crew before the start of the second leg of Popmart reveal that one more concert was planned after the Tel Aviv gig: a show in Cairo, Egypt, on 1997-10-03. However, that concert never took place.

Sound

To me, the sound is not even 4 stars. It's pretty bad during WTSHNN and Discotheque, for example. The boot is listenable, but that's all.
Recording: "Tel Aviv - Soundboard Edition" - 4.5 stars

Audience

Can barely hear them in the bootleg, but it's not their fault.

Overall

First and only time in Israel (I doubt they ever come back) and the final show in the European leg. The Pop Muzik intro is not from the actual concert, it seems the song was just added to the bootleg. The show itself was good (although the Karaoke part is again a low), but it doesn't feel like a soundboard. I'm sure it's just the years taking a toll. It appears that many fans think that the best performance of Please is in here, and although it was pretty good, with Bono actually singing at the end, Sarajevo and Santiago are even better. All I Want Is You was short, but good.
