Performance

Days later I can still not find the words to adequately describe this show. I've seen U2 on tour since The Unforgettable Fire and each experience has been unique and amazing. This show however left me speechless, from the moment they started the first 4 songs brought the roof off the building and drove the crowd to frenzy, then transitioned into making the show personal with the new songs from SOI. They sounded phenomenal live and they gave me chills in parts, but the most vivid thing was the tone of the band from SBS, Wolves, UTEOTW, and Bullet they were so passionate and even angry. The energy and emotion was raw and palatable. The personal note continued as Bono beautifully wove snippets of Moment of Surrender on consecutive songs and continuing on to the surprise end paying tribute to their recently fallen friend Dennis Sheehan.
All in all the show blew me away, the homecoming feel, energy, passion, emotion and joy. They clearly were on this evening and their connection to Boston made that all the more evident. U2 has always been one of the greatest bands to see live and this show did not fail to live up to that.
