Performance

With last night's superb performance having renewed our faith in all things U2, anything that London #4 had to offer was a bonus. Tonight there were no special guests and no major setlist surprises, but by the time 11 o' clock tick-tocked around, we were - again - completely blown away.

The Electric Co. slotted in for Gloria, Desire and All I Want is You replaced Elevation and New Year's Day, while proceedings were closed with a fan-led rendition of One. Oh, and himself threw in the 'Shine like stars' verse at the end of With or Without You, meaning I can now die peacefully, teenage dreams fuelled by the Rattle and Hum movie fulfilled.

During the Meerkat broadcast, a lassie called Clair in a flat cap drove the iPhone. 'Clair by name, Clare by nature' the LV remarked on her choice of millinery, a style much favoured by old men in Ennis, Doolin and Lisdoorvarna. Although Gloucester isn't local to Greenwich, it was good that an English cailín got a turn, although I did spot a disappointed-looking Bosnian lady in pussy-cat ears on the way out...

And so it came to pass that our dealings with The Innocence and Experience Tour were done. Rumours abound that the 'circus' will resume next year, and there remains the HBO special, mixlr and Periscope to look forward to in the coming weeks.

U2 are at the top of their game; roll on Songs of Experience.

From the posh seats to the barrier huggers to the poor souls lost up in the Gods, everyone was right into this show. I can't wait to hear a bootleg of tonight's version of One.

Overall

This was top class rock'n'roll. The only thing keeping me from five stars is that I don't think it had the iconic quality of Slane or Live Aid etc. But this is as tight - but also confident and fun - that I have ever seen U2.
