Performance

While there is no doubt some nights are better than others for all sorts of reasons, one has to give U2 credit for consistently great performances. I never feel, watching live, that they are phoning it in (which sometimes can seem so when listening on line). Again U2 did not disappoint, and they put on a great show in Glasgow. Bono and the band had lots of energy, with Bono in particular in a relaxed and playful mood which matched the intimacy of the smaller stadium. While not hitting all the notes he did earlier in the tour, Bono's voice is still strong and powerful and carried beautifully in the stadium. Hard to pick highlights as the show is so tight now, but Electric Co, Zooropa, Streets, Pride, IWF, Iris, EBW, UTEOTW were all phenomenal. And Elevation sure gets the crowd going - it's easy to see why they play it.

Audience

The audience was loud and ready for U2! And really got going after MW / Elevation - its easy to see why U2 play these. The crowd was much better than both London shows I saw. (I only give 4 1/2 as it seems from what I've read 5 stars has to be reserved for Glasgow 2!)

Overall

This was my last of 7 shows I got to see live on this tour. It was a bit crazy to do this as I had to be on a Saturday afternoon flight from Heathrow to Vancouver - there was no margin for error! It meant I had to leave the concert before the encore to catch my overnight train back to London. But it was so worth it. While the setlist was not my favourite (sweetest thing

) the crowd and atmosphere was super and the band was "on". I was at the crease of the e stage on the south side right on the rail so had Bono and the band so close for so much of the show. It was a great way to end the tour! Overall it ranks 2nd of the shows I saw this tour, Montreal 2 still being my #1.
