Performance

Very good performance. Bono sounds strong of voice. Edge is, as it is said, on fire.

Excellent guitar work on the first two tracks. Bono’s “city talk” into Zoo Station is fabulous. The Fly is not necessarily in its best incarnation here but Edge can play that outro. Stay full band is beautiful and Wild Horses is nothing short of sublime. Bono’s intro to Even Better is so fun, and it’s a strong performance. Acrobat is so raw and powerful, with Bono’s explosive vocals. It’s a shame that The Showman was never played in full but the snippet here is long. Summer of Love seems stronger than usual, Pride has a thunderous intro, Get Out of Your Own Way is a nice opportunity for a singalong, but these all pale before the rearranged New Year’s Day. It’s hard to say for sure with such a classic song, but this synthy New Wave version might be the definitive incarnation of the song. The encore, though all three songs are played well, really needs to have one more energetic song in it either before or after One.

Sound

Sounds great. There’s a few weird wobbles during Stay but other than that it’s fantastic. The guitar is crisp and clear.

Audience

They’re alright. Loud in a few places but not much of a presence.

Overall

Excellent, excellent show. Sure, e+i doesn’t have great setlist length or variation and can feel pretty “scripted” but if you’re listening to one show from it, this would be a great contender. If you doubt that U2 still have that spark at this point in their career, give this show a try.
