Performance

I arrived in Dublin on Thursday morning in anticipation of the 3rd and 4th shows of this amazing 4 show run in Dublin. After a stellar 3rd night on Friday, anticipation was off the charts for Dublin 4 on Saturday. The feeling in 3Arena was festive, positive and fun. And U2 delivered a dream show. For the fans from all over the world that made the effort to attend, this performance was so amazing that it is difficult to quantify.
In the house that night, there was a feeling of not knowing when we will see the band again - nothing was scheduled beyond the Berlin show in a few days, and everyone really wanted to enjoy and savor the moment. Highlights:
Lights of Home - Powerful, gripping vocal given extra meaning in their hometown.
I Will Follow - as Bono invoked the Dublin audience, including fans from all over the world, he told us to look around their hometown, and enjoy the place where they live. It felt surreal to be in Dublin for this incredible night.
GLORIA - a fire-breathing, intense, nasty guitar, crazy crowd jumping version BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN. A life highlight for me indeed. Seeing them play Gloria in Dublin at The Point.
STAY (faraway, so close) was brilliant, with a tremendous vocal by Bono, and clean, crisp, and precise guitar from Edge, but the best gift was that this was a "Full Band" version. With Adam and Larry driving he beat, Stay (faraway, so close) was a treasure for everyone.
Wild Horses - intensity off the charts, a gorgeous, flawless and spine tingling performance of this fan favourite.
ACROBAT - I always listen closely to Edge during his featured parts, and on this night, I feel he played the Acrobat solo as well as ever before. And I love this solo because in order for it to work, he must absolutely GO FOR IT. There is a certain "pedal to the floor" risk/reward style to this solo, but there is no other way to play it. I was stunned at this performance and after this song closed, I knew it would likely be the last time I ever see this song played live. I knew that I had just witnessed a historic and perfect performance of this incredible song in Dublin.
The Best Thing About Me - chills. This arrangement crushes the original studio version in so many ways. I especially love the harmony in the Chorus, as Bono ascends his voice, Edge sings a descending line in vocal harmony.
Summer of Love - "When all is lost we find out what remains". One of my favourite lyrics Bono has ever written, backed by Edges incredible touch on the guitar.
New Years Day - my favourite song of all time (along with Gloria) - seeing this version was a dream, and it was played as though it had just been released. And I just have to say, Adam is an amazing person and band member. His presence on stage means so much to all of us, and we love him dearly. This bass line is one of his very best.
Landlady - including a meaningful dedication to their four partners, Landlady produced a remarkable vocal by Bono, and connected with everyone in the audience... however, the outro was a bit off... it happens. We were all still thrilled to hear it, and the incredible vocal. Another chill inducing moment.
Love is Bigger - This is an all-time great U2 song. This particular performance met every criteria of excellence.

Sound

The Matrix is stellar. The drums are slightly more forward in the mix, and I personally love that. It sounds so amazing to hear Larry, and it impressed the hell out of me to listen into his sound this way. He's such a good drummer. Keep in mind, part of this matrix is an In-ear-monitor feed, and during quiet songs like 13, Stay, and Summer of Love, you might hear mild remnants of the click track, but our friend ShareBear did remarkable work to keep the music so pristine and undamaged by the post-processing.
In my humble opinion, this is a MUST HAVE.
I am grateful to ShareBear as I have always dreamed of being at a show in Dublin that has a recording of this quality, and after my 8th show in Dublin I finally have it.

Recording: "IEM Matrix" - 5 stars

Audience

The Audience for U2 in Dublin is unique and unlike any other I have seen at any event anywhere. The spirit, volume, the participation and the feeling that this was definitely a historic moment in the band's career while it is happening, is what we all felt that night. It can't be described. Dublin must be experienced.

Overall

Dublin 4 was a life highlight for me. So many friends in the house, seeing this from all different vantage points, and a stellar off the charts performance from the band. 5 stars is not enough. I would double that. This is 10 stars on a scale of 5.
