Performance

A fantastic performance from the band, with a mostly strong performance from everyone for their second performance at Madison Square Garden, which also happened to be a special night as this was the first time they played MSG after hitting worldwide Superstardom and featuring special people in the audience. Such as Bono's dad, brother, and "Edge's people". As a result, everyone is giving it their all and delivers an excellent performance. However, there are a few hiccups in places in the form of a few mistakes, with the most major one being Bono getting lost during Exit, a mild mistake being Adam messing up the bass on Trip Through Your Wires and Bono for some reason starting the first performance of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For by singing off-beat which is thankfully corrected. But, aside from these flaws, this show is terrific.

Bono's voice is also in very fine form this evening, delivering a solid vocal performance on the entire set, which is unfortunately countered by issues with most of the falsetto notes on songs such as The Unforgettable Fire and Bullet the Blue Sky. However, putting this aside, this is still a good night in the office for him, knowing how rough he can be on this tour.

Sound

A fantastic audience recording is also one of the best I've heard from this tour. I'd also recommend going for this one over the officially released Wolfgang's Vault and The Joshua Tree 30th anniversary release one, as this has the whole show sans a cut at the start of MLK with the Sunday Bloody Sunday speech intact rather than cut out. The recording itself is a perfect but sadly compressed capture, with the music being the top priority and a significant amount of the audience atmosphere being captured in this.

Audience

Engaged and well into the show.

Overall

Overall, it was a very strong performance from the end of the first month of The Joshua Tree tour's third and final leg. It featuring an excellent band performance, with everyone pretty much at the peak of their powers, but with a few mistakes happening. The only reason why I haven't given this a five-star rating is because I'm picky and because the mistakes present on Exit caused a near-trainwreck rendition. Still, aside from that, everyone else thankfully makes up for it with a truly inspired performance. Definitely a must-listen in my eyes due to the quality of the audience recording alone, along with the double appearance of I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, with the second one being the rendition that was used on the Rattle and Hum album featuring the New Voices of Freedom Gospel Choir.
