Performance notes: Live debuts of Zoo Station, The Fly, Even Better Than The Real Thing, Mysterious Ways, One, Until The End Of The World, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, Tryin' To Throw Your Arms Around The World, Ultra Violet, and Love Is Blindness. First time U2 covered Satellite Of Love in full, though Bono had snippeted it a few times during Bad in the 1980s. Bullet The Blue Sky and Desire are distinctly different to past live versions. The former is even more hard-rocking than it was on the Joshua Tree and Lovetown tours and features a longer solo. The latter has completely different guitar effects, and during the song, Bono plays the role of Mirrorball Man, a parody of US televangelists. Setlist and comment provided by U2gigs.com.

Here it is, the start of probably one of the greatest tours in the history of music. The show starts off with a bang, U2 showing that their new stuff all raw and in its beauty. Even Better than the Real Thing was in lower key, and you can hear Bono ask Edge to 'turn it up'. Bono saves it by delivering one of the best after-solo vocal performances I've heard for the song. Mysterious Ways through Until the End of the World were phenomenal. Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses has an extended solo which makes these early versions so amazing. For the rest of the show U2 did well. Pride was alright to hear, and there was no MLK speech in the middle. The crowd made Still Haven't Found come alive, which it always seemed to do. Desire was a fan favorite too. There was a fuss up at the start of Ultraviolet, maybe because it was under-rehearsed? I however liked the delayed drums and bass, it makes the song sound more guitar driven. The end of the show was cool. The band delivered what they could on the 1st show!
Sound
The band sounded nice and clear, not as close as one gets with 5 star recordings, but it didn't ruin my listening experience. Recording: Audience microphone - 3.5 stars
Audience
The audience was in for a real treat here. I would like to point out that some U2 fans must have been disappointed because the setlist for the new tour was unknown until this show. Other than that kudos to the people for singing amazingly on Still Haven't Found and Desire.
Overall
This is U2's Zoo debut, something a moderate fan should hear for kicks. Highlights for me were Even Better than the Real Thing, Mysterious Ways, Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses, Streets, and I must give credit to the boys for trying out Ultraviolet. It's a fun show, so let go of the steering wheel and get ready for what's next!
