1992-04-21 - Tacoma, Washington - Tacoma Dome

setlist

Performance notes: First performance of When Love Comes To Town on the Zoo TV Tour and its only appearance on the first leg. Its next appearance is over a month later in Milan. Rather surprisingly, Bono inserts a line of Van Diemen's Land into Angel Of Harlem; this is the only example of Van Diemen's Land being snippeted.

Performance

One of the best U2 performances I think I've ever heard. No horsing around. No overt politics, no lengthy crowd addresses. No characters toeing the line of gaudy.

This is a band that has their material, their stage, their chemistry, and their crowd figured out. All systems go, full blast, foot to the floor. Performances of each song are inspired and special.

The Fly is worth mentioning as particularly solid. Bono experiments a bit with the bridge of EBTTRT giving it a bit more gusto, a change that didn't last. Mysterious Ways follows suit, and then One really just knocks it out of the park.

Special performance of TTYAATW as well, with multiple references to Wayne's World, and a strong snippet of Three Little Birds.

Sound

On the higher end of good-sounding ZooTV boots from this leg in particular.
Recording: Audience microphone - 4 stars

Audience

Could be a little heavier in the mix for me but its a great, responsive crowd.

Overall

Not much to say about this show other than...you should listen to it. Great representation of why this was the golden era.
