Performance

The boys are absolutely on fire, it's a spectacular night.

THOSE DRUMS on Zoo Station! The Edge is really out there on The Fly. Bono shouts 'burn the fucking house down!' at the start of Even Better Than the Real Thing, and it's a very good version indeed. Mysterious Ways is another real killer. Edge again really shines on One. Bono sings the beginning of Until the End of the World with an affected deep voice; during Edge’s awesome solo, he keeps shouting ‘Turn up the fucking guitar, Joe! Guitar, Joe!’ It transitions immediately to Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses. That chap introducing the ‘old Irish drinking song’ Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms Around the World sounds an awful lot like Mr Adam Clayton, and the performance of it is top notch.

After one of the best spates of Achtung Baby songs I've ever heard, how does the rest of the show measure up? Bono introduces Angel of Harlem as Angel of Hamburg. He messes up on the opening of When Love Comes To Town but realises this and changes the lyric. Bad is quite good, with a rare snippet of Walk To the Water, which Bono delivers as spoken-word. As always on ZooTV, Bullet the Blue Sky is impressive. Running To Stand Still is good and has a nice ending/segue into Where the Streets Have No Name. Bono does a lot of talking during I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, which gives way to a great performance of Stand By Me. There's no Ultra Violet in the encore. With or Without You is very good, and has a snippet of Love Will Tear Us Apart. The show closes with a very very strong performance of Love Is Blindness.

Sound

Really good sound. One of the better audience recordings I can recall hearing. There are a few crackles and such here and there, a bit of echoey reverberation at times, and the sound shifts slightly from left to right at times, but overall it's pretty brilliant.

Audience

The audience are chanting 'start the show' during the intro music, and they are not at all disappointed by what they get. For an audience bootleg, the crowd isn't actually a massive presence on the recording, which is good. You can tell they're cheering and clapping and singing but they don't overpower the performance, and they're easily audible at the beginnings and ends of songs. Their singalong with Angel of Harlem is excellent.

Overall

Very, very good show. I think this might be my favourite ZooTV concert after Stockholm 1992-06-11.

Highlights:
- Zoo Station (one of the best I've heard)
- The Fly (quite probably the best I've heard - even better than Sao Paulo 2006)
- One/Can't Help Falling In Love (includes a very, very good 'hear me coming' verse, and the snippet works excellently)
- Until the End of the World
- Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (one of the best performances)
- Tryin’ To Throw Your Arms Around the World
- Stand By Me
- With Or Without You/Love Will Tear Us Apart (excellent 'shine like stars' verse)
