Performance

The sixth night of Outside Broadcast continued the trend of a mostly strong band performance. The band continues to settle into the tour and now delivers more refined performances. However, while they go through the setlist more smoothly, a few questionable moments and mistakes remain at the show. For the specifics, the band is mostly in fine form, and Bono is still very good, as usual for Zoo TV.

The show begins with a standard Achtung Baby run of songs, with Zoo Station to One going through without any problems, with One, in particular, featuring some unique lyric changes made by Bono, which sound very nice; however, starting from Until the End of the World Edge makes a mistake but quickly corrects himself during the 1st verse of the song and a very peculiar rendition of New Year's Day follows soon after. Still, the band recovered and made up for this with the debut of Larry singing Whiskey in the Jar and a fantastic rendition of Arms featuring the Love and Affection and Three Little Birds snippets.

The B-Stage set features a fun rendition of Angel of Harlem featuring Bono flubbing lyrics early on, with him even admitting he mixed up the verses, but aside from this, the song goes on without any other faults. The set continues with strong, stripped-down renditions of When Love Comes To Town, I Still Haven't Found, and All I Want Is You.

The Live Staples are fantastic, with this run of songs, which begins with Sunday Bloody Sunday and goes all the way to Pride, all being performed flawlessly, which all-in-all ends the main set on a high.

Opening the slightly shortened encore section of the show due to the band's decision to drop Ultra Violet, Desire is the most unique rendition on the leg so far, featuring a tight musical backing for it, but with Bono delivering the first two verses of the song in a speak-sung way rather than his usual singing however soon after this the band overall return to delivering standard renditions of With or Without You still featuring the terrific Shine Like Stars extra verse, Love Is Blindness and Can't Help Falling In Love which concludes the show.

Sound

I used the 1st gen Maxell XLII-90 copy of the show from U2Torrents, which has a good sound for the most part; however, there are times when the audience noise does happen to drown out the music in places, but for the most part, it's a very good sounding recording even with the flaw of Arms being the victim of cuts in places allowing the show to be enjoyed very well, especially after a speed correction.

Audience

The same as the previous five audiences I've reviewed while doing this leg chronologically, I'm not going to go into much detail with this anymore as I'm practically saying the same thing for each show.

Overall

Overall, for the most part, this is quite a strong performance from early Outside Broadcast, with the band with five previous shows under their belt finally getting into the swing of things and delivering a performance that will only be improved upon for the most part from here onwards. While there are still some slight moments of rawness and mistakes present here, it's mostly been turned into refinedness and smoothness though; part of me thinks the band needs to figure out how to play New Year's Day as it's always had one problem or another on the leg so far.

Highlights: Mysterious Ways, One, Tryin' to Throw, Angel of Harlem, I Still Haven't Found, All I Want Is You, Bullet the Blue Sky, Where the Streets Have No Name, With or Without You
Lowlights: New Year's Day
